Today, 9 October, we celebrate ν•œκΈ€λ‚  (Hangeul Day), a special day honouring the Korean alphabetπŸŽ‰

2026 is a particularly meaningful year, marking the 100th anniversary of Hangeul Day and the 580th anniversary of the promulgation of Hunminjeongeum, the original document introducing the Korean alphabet.

To celebrate this special occasion, London Sejong Institute hosted a Hangeul Day event on Wednesday 7 October, bringing our university together to explore the beauty, history and significance of HangeulπŸ’›

Participants tried their hand at traditional Korean calligraphyπŸ–ŒοΈ, created their own Hangeul bracelets and bookmarksπŸ“ΏπŸ”–, and enjoyed delicious Korean snacks and tea 🍡πŸͺ β€” a wonderful opportunity to experience Korean language and culture through creativity and hands-on activities!

On Saturday 26 September, London Sejong Institute celebrated Chuseok, Korea's Harvest Moon Festival, with a special party at Richmond American University London.

Guests tasted songpyeon (half-moon rice cakes), yakbap (sweet rice with jujubes and nuts), seafood pajeon and kimchi jeon, together with Korean snacks, tea and drinks. We learned about the meaning of Chuseok, watched yutnori and gonggi games, tried on beautiful hanbok, and joined hands for Ganggangsullae, the traditional Korean circle dance.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us - it was a joy to share Korea's biggest holiday together. Happy Chuseok!

🌟 The event began with an inspiring address by Dr. Moun Shin. Participants shared their unique experiences with Korean culture through engaging speeches.
