We may be a day late, but we couldn’t let World Animal Day pass without introducing you to some very special members of the extended Silostop family! 🐄🐓🐾
Meet Jeremy, one of our colleagues and a dedicated conservation grazier. He works with wildlife trusts and private landowners, using extensive, low-level grazing to support wildlife habitats and help increase wading bird populations along the East Suffolk coast.
Jeremy keeps several Galloway breeds, including the incredibly rare Riggit Galloway. With fewer than 250 remaining worldwide, his herd of 11 breeding females forms part of his own livestock conservation project, helping to restore a distinctive colour marking that was bred out more than 200 years ago.
When he isn’t caring for his cattle, Jeremy is kept company by his Welsummer chickens, producers of fabulous terracotta-coloured eggs and Ruff, his trusty Border Collie. We’re sure Ruff keeps everyone in line! 🐶
A brilliant example of how caring for livestock and protecting nature can go hand in hand. 🌿
