🎮 LCCA is getting ready to host UniJam 2026!

From Sunday 23 August to Friday 28 August, we’ll be welcoming students and aspiring game developers to LCCA for six days of game making, creative collaboration and putting skills into practice.

UniJam brings together universities and creative institutions to give the next generation of game developers the opportunity to create, collaborate and connect with others across the industry.

Participants can take part for free, either in person at LCCA’s purpose-built Gaming Lab or remotely through Discord. And you don’t need to be a programmer to get involved — there are opportunities for game designers, artists, animators, writers, sound designers and more.

We’re also excited to welcome industry guests Karen Troop and Lauren Middleton to LCCA on the final day. They’ll take part in a games industry panel and help judge the games created during the jam.

It’s a great opportunity to bring creative talent together, develop new skills and experience the collaborative process of making games.

Meet Georgia, a Graphic Design student whose work featured in this year's Just My Type exhibition.

Inspired by the London Borough of Culture 2025 brand identity, Georgia created an original typeface that explores how typography can communicate ideas through visual storytelling.

Looking ahead, she hopes to build a career in graphic design where she can combine her own creative personality with her clients' vision, while bringing together influences from both her own culture and English culture.

We're proud to celebrate the creativity and ambition of students like Georgia through projects such as Just My Type.

We’re incredibly proud to see LCCA’s Head of Industry Engagement & Partnerships, Sadie Clayton, taking on a new creative challenge as a judge on the BBC’s brand-new series, Race Against the Tide.

The six-part series sees teams of professional and amateur sand sculptors race against the clock – and the incoming tide – to create spectacular sculptures on the beaches of St Andrews. Sadie joins renowned sand sculptor Jamie Wardley on the judging panel, looking for creativity, technical skill, storytelling and that all-important wow factor.

Sadie’s work as an artist and creative educator is a brilliant example of the opportunities that come from combining creative expertise with industry experience. From her celebrated copper sculptures to working across innovative mediums, she continues to push the boundaries of what creativity can look like.

We can’t wait to see Sadie bring her expertise to the screen!

📺 Race Against the Tide with Iain Stirling airs on BBC Two from 18 August, with episodes available on BBC iPlayer.

Congratulations, Sadie! 👏

As part of Career Development Week, we welcomed filmmaker and game director Hasraf Dulull to speak with our Games students.

Hasraf shared practical advice for anyone looking to build a career in the games industry, encouraging students to focus on progress rather than perfection. By setting small, achievable goals, learning one skill at a time and making the process enjoyable, students can build confidence while developing their technical abilities.

His message was clear: don't wait until you know everything before you start creating. Every successful project begins with taking that first step.

Thank you, Hasraf, for inspiring our students and sharing your journey with the next generation of game creators.

What is LCCAFest?

It's more than a celebration of student creativity.

LCCAFest introduces our Edustry Ecosystem – a new approach to creative education where education and industry come together.

At LCCA, students gain real experience throughout their studies by working on live briefs, collaborating with industry professionals and tackling real-world creative challenges. By the time they graduate, they've already begun building the skills, confidence and professional networks they'll need for successful creative careers.

LCCAFest showcases the incredible outcomes of this approach, bringing together outstanding work from our Fashion, Graphic Design and Games students while celebrating the power of learning through experience.

As our Dean of Creative Industries, Lucy London, puts it:

"This isn't work experience added onto education – it's education redesigned around experience."

We can't wait to share more about LCCAFest with you over the coming weeks.

✨ Sometimes, the hardest part is simply starting again.

After taking a 10-year break from education and navigating some difficult years, LCCA Fashion graduate Khaos found their way back to creativity one collage at a time.

🖤 One page a day.
🎨 No pressure to make it perfect.
🌱 Slowly rebuilding confidence.

Their journey is a powerful reminder that creativity isn't about getting everything right—it's about giving yourself permission to create.

And sometimes, that's where everything changes.
