Major Marsden is an Imperial College School of Medicine graduate with a PhD in Trauma Sciences from Queen Mary University of London. Currently, he serves as a General Surgeon in London and is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Centre for Trauma Sciences and the Defence Medical Services.
His passion for trauma surgery ignited during a medical school elective with the MEDStar Trauma Team in Washington, DC. After completing foundation training at Frimley Park and attending the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, he deployed to Afghanistan in 2012.
In 2020, he completed his groundbreaking PhD, investigating the impact of an artificial intelligence system on clinical decision-making after injury. Notably, he made history as the first UK winner of the American College of Surgeons Resident Trauma Papers Competition in 2021 for his pivotal paper on trauma laparotomy.
As a founding member of NaTRIC, Mr. Marsden has significantly contributed to enhancing trauma care through comprehensive audits and leading national trauma research initiatives. We are excited to welcome him as a guest speaker at ‘Frontiers in Trauma’!
