๐ŸŽ‰ GCSE Results Day 2026

Today marks an important milestone for thousands of young people (including parents, carers and guardians) receiving their GCSE results.

Whatever is on that results sheet, remember: your grades are only part of your story!

Your next step could be sixth form, college, an apprenticeship, training, employment โ€“ or another route that helps you build the skills, experience and confidence you need for your future.

So, whether you're celebrating, feeling disappointed, or simply unsure about what comes next, there are options and support available.

Take a breath. Talk to someone you trust. Explore your choices. And remember: there is no single route to a successful career.

Congratulations to everyone receiving their results today โ€“ and good luck with whatever comes next! ๐ŸŒŸ

You have more skills than you think ๐Ÿ’ก

If you're not in education, employment or training right now, it can be easy to feel like you don't have much to offer an employer.

But skills don't only come from a job.

๐ŸŽฎ Gaming can build problem-solving, strategy and teamwork.

โšฝ Sport can develop resilience, communication and determination.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Supporting family or caring for others can show responsibility, patience and organisation.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Using social media can develop digital, creative and communication skills.

๐Ÿค Volunteering or helping in your community can demonstrate reliability, teamwork and initiative.

Even the things you do every day can help you build skills for your future.

The important part is recognising those skills โ€” and getting the support to understand how they can help you take your next step towards education, training or employment.

You might not have a job on your CV yet.

That doesn't mean you don't have skills.

Whatโ€™s something you do outside of work or education that you're proud of?

More than just a workshop.

Earlier this month, young people aged 18โ€“24 came together at Twin Southwark for an Employability Day delivered in partnership with People and their Brilliance.

Participants explored workplace skills, confidence-building techniques and career development opportunities.

The event demonstrated the power of collaboration across the employability sector, bringing together expertise, networks and support to help young people take their next steps towards employment.

Thank you to all partners, facilitators and participants who made the day such a success.

Work Experience Month is one of those initiatives that actually has the potential to shift things, not just sit on a shelf as another campaign.

Because the reality is, too many people still reach the end of training or education without really knowing what work feels like. Not in theory. In reality.

That gap is where confidence drops, opportunities are missed, and potential gets stuck. Work Experience Month directly tackles that. It creates a focused national push to get people into real workplaces, seeing real expectations, and understanding what โ€œgood workโ€ actually looks like.

And once someone sees that, properly sees it, something changes. Their thinking changes. Their confidence changes. And suddenly, progression becomes possible in a way it wasnโ€™t before.

As a National Careers Ambassador, I see this time and time again, exposure is everything. You canโ€™t underestimate what happens when someone stops imagining work and starts experiencing it.

This initiative gets that right.'

For Work Experience Month, we asked Lynsey, our Assistant Director of Education & Skills, to share some thoughts. We'll be sharing them throughout the month, so keep an eye out for more!
