A huge congratulations to Professor Sue Hamilton on being shortlisted for the EAA European Association of Archaeologists Prize for New Sensory Approaches to the Past: Applied methods in sensory heritage and archaeology (published by UCL Press)!

On being shortlisted, Professor Sue told us: “My co-authors and I are thrilled to be shortlisted for the EAA prize. Together, our goal has been to elevate sensory archaeology from a niche add-on to a rigorous, core methodology. We want to build a robust framework that deepens how we understand the people, places and things of the past.”

✨ Glass, trade, and the Silk Roads ✨

We had a fantastic time at Transparent Journeys along the Silk Roads: Glass and Connectivity across Central Asia and Beyond, organised by UCL Institute of Archaeology, the Association for the History of Glass, and the British Museum.

From handling ancient Egyptian glass at the Petrie Museum of Egyptian and Sudanese Archaeology to guided tours at the British Museum Science Labs and Wolfson Archaeological Science Laboratories, the conference was packed with discovery.

Thank you to everyone who attended. We hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did!

🎊A huge congratulations to Charlotte Frearson, Student Recruitment and Marketing Manager at UCL's Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences, who won UCL's WP25 Award for her work widening participation by engaging young people across London with archaeology, inspiring those who may not have otherwise considered the subject as a pathway to higher education.

Well done, Charlotte, well deserved!

"I definitely wouldn’t be who I am today or in the career I’m in without having gone to UCL. I loved having tutorials in the British Museum. UCL taught me to be curious, which in my opinion is one of the most important parts of being an actor."
