We are traditionally one of the largest and most active societies on campus and we hope that you will be able to get involved in the events that we are organising this year. Being an LSE Law Society member has many benefits. We complement the firm academic grounding in the Law that the rigorous LLB course provides by offering assistance with the vocational and practical applications of the Law. The excellent reputation and location of the LSE means that the Society is never short of City Law firms, Chambers and other professionals enthusiastic to share their experiences with the University’s budding lawyers.

🗓️ Prelims, quarters & semis: 28 November (UCL)
🏆 Finals + networking session: 30 November (Latham & Watkins offices, London)
Whether you’re a seasoned debater, keen to pair up with a friend, or want to judge instead — there’s a spot for you. Finalists also get the chance to meet Latham & Watkins lawyers in person.

The Rule of Law Journal is now accepting applications for 2026/27 Articles and Publications Editors, alongside a Marketing and Communications Officer.

We seek highly motivated and detail-oriented students to join our editorial team. Successful candidates will contribute to the Journal’s work in advancing scholarship on the rule of law through careful review, editing, and curation of submissions.

In TCLA’s University Challenge, aspiring lawyers from universities across the UK compete to be crowned ‘the most commercially aware’.

The first event takes place from 10am to 1pm on 9 October 2026 at the offices of Simpson Thacher and will be filmed and distributed on social media.

We ask volunteers to fill out this form for Round 1 by end of day on 5 October 2026.
Ideally, volunteers have not secured a training contract.
We will contact you if you have been selected.
If you are entering with other volunteers, you will have the option to include their details.

Commercial Law Academy has just launched its full Autumn 2026 schedule of free legal career-centric webinars.

This year, Commercial Law Academy will be covering topics including how to secure work experience, private equity, legal industry trends, and how to successfully navigate a corporate environment, as well as its annual sessions on commercial awareness, application writing, interview preparation, psychometric tests and more.

Commercial Law Academy will be joined by some excellent speakers, including Peter Watson (ex-stock broker), Luke Mitchinson (ex-Magic Circle/elite US lawyer turned recruiter) and more.

All events are capped at 500 people, with access granted on a first-come-first-served basis, so register now for any events that particularly interest you (and please help to spread the word!). In fact, some are almost full!
