NEWS: Celebrating one year of Barrow’s first university campus.

A year ago, Barrow made history as it became a university town for the first time. The University of Cumbria welcomed its first students to the new Buccleuch Dock Road campus and marked the start of a new era of higher education and opportunity for the area.

One year on, the campus has become an established part of the community, bringing university education closer to home for local people and helping create new pathways into higher-level study, skilled employment and lifelong learning, both retaining and attracting talent.

NEWS: Community art brings Barrow's first university campus to life 🖌️🎨
Two new murals celebrating the town's local identity and community have been unveiled at the University of Cumbria’s Barrow campus. They have been created through a collaborative project involving local people, university staff and students, Barrow arts charity BarrowFull and international street artist ATMA.
Around 40 people from across the Barrow community, alongside University of Cumbria staff and students, took part in a series of creative workshops. A further 30 people contributed their ideas and experiences through verbal feedback, helping to shape the project.
The murals are now a permanent part of the University of Cumbria’s Barrow campus, creating a visible connection between the university and the community around it.
