Our second year BA (Hons) Drama, Applied Theatre & Education students perform their fully-realised production of a playtext - this year, 'Venus' (1996) by Suzan-Lori Parks.

It chronicles the fictional life-story of Sarah “Saartjie” Baartman, beginning from her life as an attraction for 19th century British audiences as the Hottentot Venus and ending with her death.

A very important message from our DATE students studying in Canada... they need your support!

Please watch and share this fantastic video showcasing the work of two current BA DATE students and one MA Applied Theatre graduate, using prison theatre in Beaver Creek Institution (Gravenhurst, Canada). They are raising money to create photobooks for the inmates to show their families, which will contain pictures and quotes from rehearsals and the performance of their original children’s theatre production!

"How can film help us as educators meet the needs of young people who learn differently?"

Join Swiss Cottage School at the BFI on 20th January 2017 for an afternoon exploring the ways film can be used as more than a means of entertainment. With a number of guest speakers it will be an afternoon of challenging the assumption that the use of film in the classroom encourages pupil activity and will instead emphasize how film can promote active learning.
