🌳 Yesterday we hosted the first of this Spring/Summer's Arboretum Tours, led by the ever-insightful David Pinney. After the extreme heat we've experienced recently, it was a relief to have a pleasant breeze blowing through the trees as we meandered through the grounds of Trent College, HMC Independent School, with a pit stop for ice cream 🍦 at the half-way point!

📅 There are just two dates remaining in the calendar to enjoy a guided tour led by David Pinney, before he retires at the end of this summer after almost 50 years:

🌿 Monday 6 July at 6.00 pm - 8.30 pm
🌿 Saturday 15 August at 9.30 am - 12.00 pm

Please do come along and see us, enjoy the wonderful grounds of our school 🌳 and celebrate all that David has contributed, not only through leading such informative tours with his great humour, but also through his dedication to Trent College and our alumni community. 👏

Year 13 students took an important step this week in thinking about life beyond Trent College, HMC Independent School, exploring what it means to stay connected as future Old Tridents.

During the session, 'Class of 2026' students discovered how our alumni network can support them long after they leave, through mentoring, career connections, events and the OT Network platform.

We were also delighted to welcome back Old Trident Amalia Morris (Class of 2021), now studying Medicine at Newcastle University, who shared honest reflections and practical advice about transitioning to university life.

Her message was clear: take your time, explore opportunities you genuinely enjoy, and be proactive, whether that’s joining societies, volunteering, or building new connections.

These sessions are about more than information, they help students see what’s possible. By connecting them with our alumni, we’re opening doors, building confidence, and reminding them they’re part of a community that will support them long after they leave.

A big thank you to Amalia for inspiring the students and reinforcing the strength of the Old Trident community.

𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐓𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫. 𝐀 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞-𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. 💙

After joining the stem cell register following a Sixth Form talk, 𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐟𝐭 (Class of 2017) has now gone on to donate stem cells, offering hope to someone in need.

Jonathan's story is a powerful reminder that small actions today can have an extraordinary impact in the future.

Trent College, HMC Independent School is proud to continue welcoming Anthony Nolan each year to speak with Year 13 students about blood, stem cell and organ donation, helping young people understand how they can make a difference.

We love celebrating the inspiring Trent College, HMC Independent School role models who show the pupils what is possible when passion and purpose come together.

The impact of real industry experience being brought into the classroom helps pupils understand how creativity can be used to tell important stories and make a positive difference in the world.

We know many of you who are now in our alumni community, and were once pupils learning from the expertise of Mrs Ward, will join us in celebrating her contribution to this extremely challenging storyline in the 'nation's favourite soap'.

🌳 𝐀𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 – 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟖 𝐌𝐚𝐲 🌲

Join us for a very special Arboretum Tour led by former Teacher and Head of Biology (1973–2004), 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐝 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐲, who has been sharing his passion and expertise for almost 50 years.

This season marks David’s final year of leading tours, making this a wonderful opportunity to experience the Trent College Arboretum through the insight of someone who has helped generations discover its beauty and significance.

With the first trees planted almost 160 years ago, the arboretum is considered one of the finest school collections in the country. Set across the 45-acre campus, it includes hundreds of trees representing around 200 species, including some rare varieties, as well as the much-loved OT Spinney, named in honour of Old Tridents.

David continues to give his time generously as a volunteer and is always delighted to share the stories, science and heritage behind this remarkable landscape.

Congratulations to the OT Golf Society team who beat Framlingham 3.5 to 1.5 in yesterday's first round of the Halford Hewitt competition ⛳

Today they play Eton at Royal St. George's, and they certainly have great weather for it!🌞
