Centre for Sustainable Manufacturing and Recycling Technologies The Centre Sustainable Manufacturing and Recycling Technologies (SMART). Its remit is to advance the sustainability of manufacturing, taking a life cycle view.

The Centre for SMART is a Research and Development organisation, established in 2004 and located at Loughborough University. This involves advances in product design methodologies, supply chains, technologies and tools related to resource efficient manufacturing and to promote effective end-of-life product retirement strategies in pursuit of closed loop manufacturing.
