We can't wait to meet everyone arriving tomorrow!
Hello everyone. Firstly, well done for getting a place at Loughborough University and for choosing David Collett Hall - the best hall on campus. We would like to welcome you into the DC family and we hope that your stay here will be a safe, productive and enjoyable one. We are the warden team and if we can help you in any way please do not hesitate to get in touch. Don’t forget to like our page – DC Warden Team. Our three subwardens are PhD students and live in the hall. There is another team member you will see a lot of and that is Cornelius the Library cat. Be sure to say hello as he spends a lot of time in DC!
We look forward to meeting and getting to know you this year. Please meet the members of our team below:
Dr Sheryl Williams
I am from Jamaica and have been at Loughborough since September 2002 when I came to do a PhD in Renewable Energy. I now work in Wolfson School as the Flexible and Distance Learning Manager supporting academics and students on our MSc by distance learning. I have been warden in DC since September 2006. I love playing badminton and table tennis. If you think you can beat me at table tennis...why not challenge me ... I will be waiting for you in the table tennis room. Be warned I am very competitive!!
Maren Schnieder
I am one of the new Subwardens and I live in the flat in B Block. Developing the next generation of ebikes is the focus of my PhD in Wolfson School. My main hobby is horse riding. Additionally, I enjoy going on hikes with friends where I take pictures and videos, which I then edit. My secret fact is that I was a Top Gear fan. I am very excited to join the warden team and to meet everyone.
Sarah de Kremer
I'm a PhD student in the Design School. I enjoy travelling to new places and going to the gym, and my favourite holiday destination is Florida. I'm new to the warden team this academic year (Sept 2017). My sub-warden flat is in A block. My secret fact is that I'm a trained pro wrestler - think WWE! I look forward to meeting all the new students. Hope you all have a great fresher's week and a fantastic year.
Jon Bigger
I am a PhD research student in the Politics, History and International Relations Department. My interests include motor racing, Dr Who, The Beatles, photography and politics. I joined the warden team in Spring 2015 and can generally be found either in my flat in D Block or around the hall, especially if F1 is on in the common room. My secret fact is that I used to be a circus performer! I’m looking forward to meeting everyone. It’s going to be a great year!
