🧭 Enhancing Maritime Training with New Navigation and Stability Laptop Suites
We’re proud to enhance our maritime education provision with the deployment of 40 specialised laptops powered by Intel Core Ultra 5 processors.
This rollout includes 20 navigation and passage planning laptops, now being trialled by lecturers and featuring the latest UK Hydrographic Office ADMIRALTY e-Nautical Publications (ADLL, ADRS, ADTT, ENP & NAVPAC) to support the modernised MCA syllabi.
Meanwhile, our IT department is preparing 20 dedicated stability laptops, equipped with Kockumation LOADMASTER X5 and NAPA Stability—professional-grade tools used onboard vessels—enabling students to develop practical skills with authentic industry software.
All laptops provide seamless access to our digital library, promoting research capability and advancing technology-driven learning.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Maritime Educational Foundation (MEF) for their generous co-funding and continued support of world-class maritime training.
This initiative also reinforces our collaboration with the University of West London, reflecting our shared commitment to delivering industry-aligned, high-quality maritime education.

🚢 The UK Maritime Pilots’ Association (UKMPA) has launched the first-ever interactive poster for Pilot Transfer Arrangements (PTAs) – a groundbreaking tool created to improve safety, compliance, and training across the maritime industry.

📜 This innovative resource also supports the industry’s transition to the revised SOLAS Regulation V/23, adopted at the IMO MSC 110 meeting on June 25. The updated rules introduce important changes to pilot transfer arrangements and will come into effect as follows:

– ⚓ New installations: from January 1, 2028
– 🚢 Existing installations on SOLAS ships: during their first survey after January 1, 2029
– 🌍 Non-SOLAS ships: from January 1, 2030
