As we mentioned yesterday, we hear from a lot of people thinking about becoming a youth worker, or who are already involved in youth ministry but have had no formal training.

If that’s you, Regents Theological College, the national training centre of the Elim Pentecostal Churches, has an undergraduate degree in youth ministry exactly for you.

Here’s Ollie Ward, leader of Regents BA (Hons) degree in Applied Theology and Youth Ministry, and Tim Alford, National Director of Limitless, the youth and children’s movement of the Elim Pentecostal Churches in the UK and Ireland, talking about everything on offer at the Limitless Academy.

The degree combines the theological, the theoretical and practical, with the spiritual, to release you into your ability as a youth leader.

Most of all we want to enhance and train you in everything God has planned for you to do for young people.

We recognise the demands are becoming increasingly challenging for young people, but with the right focus and practical training, you can become a valuable and really appreciated youth leader.

Details of the course are in the comments below, or you could also join us at our final undergraduate Open Day before the start of the next intake of students in September.

Details are also in the comments below.

A short ‘day-in-the-life’ video from Sian, who graduated from the BA (Hons) Applied Theology and Youth Ministry degree last year.

Sian is now the Youth Worker at Life Church Chelmsford.

We hear from a lot of people thinking about becoming a youth worker, or who are already involved in youth ministry but have had no formal training.

If that’s you, like Sian, Regents Theological College, the national training centre of the
Elim Pentecostal Churches, has an undergraduate degree in youth ministry exactly for you.

Jesus knew that if you want to change a community you inspire people to do things differently and then empower them to go.

At Regents we know that today’s church needs young people to represent the kingdom of God in the lives of others, who are inspired to do things differently and empowered to go as in Jesus’ day.

We believe it is the combined role of the youth worker and minister to help young people reflect theologically on their culture and experience, and form ‘Jesus-like’ identities.

It’s this transformed character, through encounter with Jesus, and the enabling of His Spirit, that inspires all of us to do things differently.

The Regents BA (Hons) degree in Applied Theology and Youth Ministry is a partnership with Limitless, the youth & children’s movement of the Elim Pentecostal Churches in the UK and Ireland.

Through engagement with practical theology, professional practice, cultural studies, and adolescent development, we believe our course forms ‘Jesus-like’ youth workers and ministers who will inspire young people to do things differently, as Jesus did.

Along with Track Leader Ollie Ward, Tim Alford (The National Director of LIMITLESS), and
a diverse team of visiting lecturers and youth leaders, the course combines teaching, mentoring, and experiential learning from both a practical and academic point-of-view.

The best way to ‘learn’ youth ministry is by working with young people, and so during each year of the degree course students undertake a professional practice placement in a context of their choice.

The Youth Ministry Track aims to enhance both the biblical and theological knowledge of students, with professional skills in ministry and mission, so they can practically minister in a youth context through being grounded in a developing life with God.

As many of you know April 2025 marked our 100th anniversary of training and releasing men and women into their calling as Christians.

As that celebration continues, we are still offering a discount on our undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses for ordained Elim ministers, Elim’s Ministers in Training, their spouses, and other church leaders and elders.

The offer is a 50% scholarship on all our undergraduate courses, and a 25%scholarship towards our postgraduate programmes.

If you are interested in taking up this opportunity, please email Lucy Harvey in our admissions department before 15 June when the offer will close.

Regents Theological College is the Elim Pentecostal Churches national training centre, where we are committed to releasing people in Christian discipleship and purpose from a charismatic, confessional and Pentecostal biblical point-of-view.

Since we began in 1925, the environment and demands may have changed, but we know the Word of God remains clear, consistent, and life changing.

Two things…

As we approach summer, we’re aware how quickly the days go by; the happy distraction of holidays coming up, the festivals and family get together’s, and of course the everyday work that needs to be done.

With all that in mind, we wanted to remind you that if you’re planning to join us in September, applications to study at Regents are open for both our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

It’s a great time for us as well, as the team in admissions are relatively quiet.

There’s also time to put in place any student funding applications you might need.

Alternatively, if you’re still thinking about it and want more information, we have two final Open Days before the start of the new curriculum year…

Undergraduate – Saturday 20 June from 9.30 on our Malvern campus

Postgraduate – Saturday 4 July at 11am on Zoom.

Links to both the applications and the Open Days are in the comments below.

As the Elim Pentecostal Churches national training centre, we are entirely committed to releasing people into their calling from a charismatic, confessional and Evangelical biblical point-of-view.

And as we continue to celebrate 100 years of doing so (1925 – 2025), the environment and demands may have changed, but we know the Word of God remains clear, consistent, and life changing.

Start of Day 3 at Elim Pentecostal Churches Elim Leaders Summit with the excellent round table discussions.

We held another two this morning:

‘Studying at Regents’ with Simo Frestadius, Jenny Kemble, Regents Dean of Undergraduate Students, and Ollie Ward, our Director of Spiritual Formation’

And ‘Ministry Placements’ with Luke Goodway, Regents Ministry Practice Coordinator, and current student Alex Hunt, Pastor of Motherwell Elim.

The round tables have been a great way to learn about the opportunities at Regents, to talk with members of the team, and to ask all questions the people who join us might have.

Start of Day 2 at the Elim Pentecostal Churches Leaders Summit…

A round table with Michelle Nunn, Regents principal, talking through our plans for Elim College Online.

We’re looking for ten churches to run a pilot project and road test all the online modules. They will have access to the courses, and then help us by feeding back what might be important and useful additions.

If that’s something that would interest you, please email: [email protected]

Wonderful to be at the annual Elim Pentecostal Churches Leaders Summit in Harrogate.

As Elim’s national training centre it’s a privilege to connect again with church leaders, and so many people who have studied with us.

At the Summit this year we are launching three new courses: a degree in Music, Worship and Theology; an online Chaplaincy Course; and our Ministry Foundation Certificate will now also be taught around the Elim regions.

The focus of the Summit is to “not camp at the edge of God’s promise”, but to lift our eyes again to the King and His kingdom.

As we see through the eyes of God, we move with wisdom and purpose.

So often the valleys we know become comfortable, but we know things look different from the mountaintop; to see with heaven’s view, and be illuminated by the Glory of God.

We sense it’s going to be a precious few days.

Just a few more days and another academic year comes to an end.

For the final year undergraduate students, their time with us also comes to a close.

As ever they have been remarkable as an example to others, as leaders of the student body, and for their theological, academic and pastoral input in putting into practise everything they have learnt, within Regents itself, within the churches they attend, and within the various placement opportunities they have had.

As they go they leave the quality of discipleship the other current and new students can emulate and walk into.

We are privileged to have had them with us, not just as inspiring students, but as friends and fellow disciples.

If you’re thinking of an undergraduate degree in theology, we have an Open Day on 20 June which you would be welcome to join to find out more. Details are in the first comment below.

If you are thinking of studying for an undergraduate degree in theology at Regents Theological College, our final undergraduate Open Day before the start of our next academic year is on Saturday 20 June.

An Open Day is a great way hear about everything on offer, discover all your course options, decide whether to live on our Malvern campus or study from home; and have a tour of all the facilities with current students.

You will also meet various members of the faculty and team.

At the end of the morning we all have lunch together, before heading home. Or you can stay for longer if there are other questions that come to mind.

Regents Theological College is the Elim Pentecostal Churches training centre, and has been teaching and releasing Christians into all walks of life for over 100 years.

Our heritage is in Pentecostalism; we believe the Bible is the Word of God and is the profound Truth that can change the lives of all people; we believe Jesus was the Son of God, who walked on the earth to lead us into His kingdom; we believe the Holy Spirit, sent as promised after Jesus rose from the dead, is our guiding influence, and the one who enhances the lives of all believers.

If this resonates with you, and you are looking for a dynamic Christian community that pursues and shares their faith together, Regents might be exactly the place for you.

We are an approved academic partner with the University of Chester, and all our degree programmes are open to student funding.

The Open Day starts at 9.30am with refreshments (people may have traveled quite a long way to join us), followed by introductions to the faculty and the team.

Family and friends are welcome to join you.

For all the details, and to book a place, please see the link in the first comment below.

Church and Mission - final module of the final year for the level 6 undergraduates.

Over the last week they’ve had an holistic overview of mission, with particular emphasis on the Biblical, historical and theological perspectives within the Church; and explored issues about the purpose, boundaries and ethical considerations when engaging in mission.

They’ve looked at mission practice, its relevance and effectiveness, and thought through the role of the missional leader as a pioneer, an enabler and a shaper of mission culture.

Church and Mission always seems the most appropriate for their final module as at the heart of Regents is our desire to follow in Jesus footsteps as witnesses to His transforming presence.

And what a time it’s been as we have sought God together over the last three years.

We have been privileged to have shared that time with them. It’s as if the Lord loans them to us for the small but significant way we can work together to enhance the direction He is leading them in.

They will head out from Regents Theological College on the 8 May when another academic year comes to an end.

They have one final paper to write, but we can now begin to relax, enjoy the sun, and share a few more precious weeks together.

There seems to be a lot in the news at the moment about there being little work after students graduate from university.

We would like to differ.

I know as a relatively small theological college, we are in a niche market, but 83% of our graduates were in a role of their choice before they left in 2025.

Yes, as the training centre for the Elim Pentecostal Churches, we offer degrees in theology, and particularly in the areas of church youth ministry, and church leadership, so students might already be in placements that become a full-time roles when the graduate.

But, many go into other areas of work including chaplaincy, the health professions, the police and armed forces, tourism, the social services; some also started their own companies and businesses.

We recently caught up with three of them; here are their stories: https://www.elim.org.uk/Articles/737396/How_life_s.aspx

Theology might be considered to be an ‘old fashioned’ degree and not as useful as the big guns in Business Studies, Psychology, and Law, but as well as developing a deeper understanding of God and scripture, theology also covers literature, history, sociology, management, and people and practical life skills as well.

Round this up in a dynamic spiritual environment, and we can see why so many go on to the variety of vocations open to them.

As one non-church business owner commented recently, “Theology is a great degree to study because it tells employers that you know how to gather information well and critically analyse viewpoints.”

Graduation marks the start of a new journey, as graduates step into ministry, strengthened in faith, equipped for leadership, and guided by God’s calling.
