More time in the studio. More time making music.

Studio access and facilities is a big part of life at Spirit. With 10 recording, mixing, mastering studios, 110 audio workstations and our own 1,800 sq ft live venue, theres plenty of space to get hands on and make things happen.

Smaller classes, serious studio access, and learning from tutors who are actually working in the industry.

But honestly, we'd rather let our students tell you about it...

Gear Spotlight: Akai S5000 V2 🎛️

A true studio classic. The Akai S5000 V2 is one of the iconic digital stereo samplers of the late ‘90s.

Originally designed to load samples from floppy disks, we’ve upgraded ours to run from USB, allowing users to load samples directly from the Mac.

It’s powerful 20-bit stereo sampling engine, 128-note polyphony and legendary sound made it an essential tool for producers and it quickly became a staple across electronic music, techno, house, hip-hop, rock and ambient.

It’s also earned its place in music history, having been used by artists including Daft Punk, Madlib, Haruomi Hosono, Barry Burns (Mogwai), Liam Howlett (The Prodigy), The Avalanches and Underworld.

The Akai S5000 remains a reminder that great music starts with great tools.

You can find ours in the Synth Suite, used by our electronic music, mastering and production students.
