🎓 Calling all graduates!

The University of Manchester Careers Service is celebrating the diverse career paths of Manchester alumni, and we'd love to feature your story.

Could you send us:

- A photo of you on your graduation day
- A recent photo of yourself (ideally at your workplace!)
- Your first job after leaving university
- What you do today

Whether you left Manchester recently or many years ago, we'd love to see where your degree has taken you. Your experiences could help inspire current students and future graduates as they consider their own careers.

Share your photos and details by emailing [email protected] or sending them via WhatsApp to 07350 395477.

🎉 Making a Difference Awards

We’re so proud to celebrate the incredible impact of our University community on social responsibility.

Congratulations to this year’s Outstanding Alumni Contribution to Social Responsibility winner, Hannah Broughton MBE.

Manchester, 2004 🎬

The research, the ambition, the spirit - still here.

Almost everything else? Completely different

What do you recognise and what feels like another era?

One of our most-requested images from the UMIST archive is this - the Swinging Sporran.

Here’s the thing
we don’t actually know as much about it as we’d like.

We know it was a popular spot from the 70s and later became Retro bar, but beyond that the details are a little hazy. When exactly did it open? What was it really like on a busy night? And how did it get its name?

So we’re handing this one over to you...

Were you a regular? Do you remember any stories, traditions, or particularly good (or terrible) nights there?

Or does anyone have photos or anecdotes they’d be happy to share?

Over to you...! đŸ’ŹđŸ»
