⚽ DAISY HILL FOOTBALL CLUB - LOCAL FOOTBALL AT THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY ⚽️

Football has always been a big part of life in Westhoughton, and Daisy Hill Football Club is one of the town’s proudest sporting institutions.

Founded in the late 19th century, the club grew during a time when the game was booming across Lancashire.

Like many teams of that era, Daisy Hill was built on the back of local industry – with players often coming straight from mills, mines and workshops to represent their community on the pitch.

The club became a familiar name in regional football, competing in leagues such as the Lancashire Combination, where they faced other well-known sides from across the county. Matches would draw local crowds, with supporters turning out in all weathers to back their team.

One of the most enduring aspects of Daisy Hill FC is its long-standing home at the New Sirs ground – a place that has seen generations of players pull on the shirt and represent Westhoughton with pride.

Over the years, the club has had its ups and downs, reflecting the changing fortunes of non-league football. But what has never changed is its role in the community. From developing local talent to bringing people together on matchdays, Daisy Hill FC has remained a key part of the town’s identity.

Today, the club continues to compete in the North West Counties Football League, keeping alive a footballing tradition that stretches back well over a century.
