Northumbria University and North East Museums are collaborating to present ‘Small Pipes - Big History’, a musical evening of history and cultural reflection celebrating the unique legacy of the Northumbrian Small Pipes – England's only regional musical instrument. The historic event includes live musical performances by piper Andy May, a talk by local piper and historian Richard Hear as well as a presentation about Gateshead-born composer and Master of the King’s Musick William Shield by Northumbria Music Lecturer, Dr Amelie Addison.
The event takes place on Wednesday 14 May from 6pm - 8pm in the Great Hall of Sutherland Building on our Newcastle City Campus. Entrance is free and booking isn’t required.
