Newcastle Emergency Medicine Society (NEMSOC) NEMSOC is a Newcastle University SU Society aimed at teaching, training and providing opportunities in Emergency Medicine for students

NEMSOC is Newcastle University SU society run by medical students, aimed at providing teaching, clinical skills and revision sessions and other educational experiences in Emergency Medicine and Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine. We aim to offer high-quality education through our links with local and regional services and healthcare professionals. This year is set to be better than ever! We run theme

d nights every other MONDAY where you will work as a team to diagnose and manage emergencies! Themes will include:
- Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Gasto, Surgical and Neurological Emergencies
- Acute Psychiatry, Obstetric and Paediatric Emergencies
- Max/Fax and ENT, Environmental and Toxicological Emergencies

We will also be running additional trips and events throughout the year, stay tuned for further details…

🏆NEMSOC presents our final event of the year... the return of Competition night!🏆

Join us on Monday 17th March 6:30pm-8:30pm where one team will be announced the 2025 NEMSOC champions and take home the trophy! Teams will participate in 4 simulations (all things we have covered during this year).

Tickets will be working slightly differently for this one! Thank you to those that put forward a team on Monday night (during Randoms night)- teams will be confirmed via message/email to tell you your team members and team colour!

We still have room for 2 more teams of 6 so if you want to take part drop us a message (either with team names or as an individual) and we will put you in a team with people in your year.

No tickets on NUSU for this one! Just to reiterate, if you put your name down on Monday you’ve got a place- please aim to arrive by 18:20 for a prompt start!

🎲NEMSOC presents... Randoms night! Join us for an evening of surprise sims- expect the unexpected on Monday 3rd March, 18:30-20:30!🎲

Tickets will be released on Wednesday 26th February- half at 6pm, and half at 8pm. You will need to be a member of NEMSOC to come to this event- see the second slide for more info on how to get yours!

🏔NEMSOC and present... Wild night! Join us for an evening of wilderness-themed sims on Monday 17th February, 18:30-20:30!🏕

Tickets will be released on Wednesday 12th February, half at 6pm and half at 8pm. Tickets will be available for members of both and NEMSOC, so be quick- it will be popular! See the 2nd slide for more information on how to get yours!

The results are in and here is your 2024/25 NEMSOC committee!
Congratulations to everyone and on behalf of this year's committee we hope you had an amazing year and thank you for all your enthusiasm and dedication to the sims and socials. To our graduates, congratulations and good luck. To all other years, best of luck in your exams and we hope to see you back for another incredible year of NEMSOC in September.

Please read the following important information about each day:

Day 1 (Sat 10th)
- Register in the foyer of Newcastle University Medical School, @9-9.30am
- Lunch is provided for day 1

Day 2 (Sun 11th)
- You will need to arrange your own transport to the SafetyWorks, NE15 6UN. Please arrive for registration @9.45am
- Lunch is not provided, so please make sure to bring your own
- There will be fake blood, so don’t bring expensive items of clothing! 🩸

Dr Stephen Wiltshire is an acute medicine consultant with a special interest in toxicology. He will be giving you the opportunity to learn about his work with the National Poisons Information Service in managing complex poisonings for the UK.

Our first guest speaker announcement for our National Undergraduate Prehospital and Emergency Medicine Conference is here!

Tamsin is an Emergency Medicine Registrar working in Glasgow. She will be joining us on Saturday 10th Feb (day 1 of our 2 day conference) to give a unique and fascinating talk on humanitarian medicine and working with displaced people across Europe.

‼️ Welcome to the National Undergraduate Prehospital and Emergency Medicine Conference ‼️

We are thrilled to be offering this opportunity as NEMSOC’s 3rd national conference. This is the perfect chance to experience all things emergency medicine and prehospital and get unparalleled insights from experts in the field

Students from ALL UNIVERSITIES and year groups with an interest in EM and PHEM are invited to join us!

This will be held over 2 days on Sat 10th & Sun 11th February 2024.

Day 1 morning will be filled with a wide range of exciting talks from guest speakers, to give you a greater insight into emergency medicine and prehospital emergency medicine.

Day 1 afternoon will involve practical workshops where you can learn and enhance key skills in EM and PHEM.

Day 2 will immerse you in a half day of high fidelity, thrilling simulations!

Additional perks will include FREE LUNCH on day 1 and a CERTIFICATE of attendance for your portfolio!

Tickets cost just £7 for each day - and will be available for the Saturday, Sunday, or BOTH!
The Sunday will be a half day and you will be allocated to either a morning or afternoon session.
