Exploring the magic of Disneyland Paris 🏰
(As part of the Travel and Tourism Convention 2025!)

From guest services to marketing, our Level 3 Travel and Tourism students discovered the wide range of career opportunities in tourism. They got behind-the-scenes insights into how Disney’s marketing campaigns go from concept to TV screens and even took on a challenge to spot and photograph marketing materials around the parks! 🎟️

Did you know that Newcastle Eagles is British basketball's most successful team? Did you also know that we've been in partnership with them for more than six years?

⚠️ AMBER WEATHER ALERT⚠️

As you might have heard this week, an amber alert has been issued across the North East due to strong winds expected tomorrow (Friday 24 January).

Please be reassured that campus remains open tomorrow.

If you are unable to get to campus because of travel disruptions, please contact your tutor on Teams and they will let you know how you can continue with your learning.

Please be aware that some entrances to buildings will be out of service and alternative entrances will be used instead. If there is a change to how to access a building, this will be clearly signposted.

If you have any concerns, please speak to your tutor.

We're proud to have partnered with Newcastle City Council once again to support the Evry Christmas Campaign.

This initiative aims to bring the magic of Christmas to children and young people who may find the festive season particularly challenging.

Colleagues and learners from the College sent gifts, donated wrapping paper and gift bags, and some even went along to the Civic Centre to join the council in wrapping the presents.

The campaign was a huge success this year, with:

• 765 children and young people receiving a gift
• 1,800 gifts donated
• 120 volunteers wrapping gifts
• 1,500 free tickets for festive experience and events sent out to children and young people.

We had a blast with the Smoothie Bike, making 100 smoothies in under 4 hours! With 32 staff and 68 students participating, each smoothie took just 20 seconds to blend. This event was also part of our Veganuary celebrations, promoting healthy and sustainable living. Thanks to everyone who joined in the fun! 🚲🥤

Students from Hedleys College are delivering a programme of Disability Awareness Presentations for our Level 1 Health Learners.

Hedleys College - Part of the Percy Hedley Foundation - is a local specialist FE provider for young people with learning difficulties and disabilities.

These sessions - which were designed by the Hedleys College students and have been shortlisted for a British Diversity Award - focus on raising awareness of how society can adapt to ensure everyone with a disability is given an equal opportunity and are not discriminated against.

Our Library team is raising money for the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust to support vital education about the Holocaust.

Anyone who donates can select and design a paper butterfly to join the "wall of hope" which is forming part of the Holocaust Memorial Day display in the library.

The idea for the butterflies came from the poem "The Butterfly" written by Pavel Friedmann from inside Theresienstadt concentration camp in 1942.

They’ve come back to where it all began to inspire our current students, reflecting on how much they would have loved a moment like this during their time at Newcastle College. 🌟
