Sociology at Northumbria is located within the Department of Social Sciences and Languages in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Social Sciences. Our programmes in Sociology enable students to think in new ways about the social issues we normally take for granted. Students learn how to critically appraise the major social institutions and organisations of the 21st Century and explore the complex soci

al, political and economic activities that shape modern life in a global world. Sociology @ Northumbria is research led: all of our teaching programmes are delivered by research active staff who use their own fieldwork and research to inform and enhance the classroom experience.
