Newcastle Unitarians

Newcastle Unitarians Newcastle upon Tyne Unitarians meet at 11am every Sunday - all welcome! Email us to get details! You can also join us online via Zoom. Email to get the link.

We are meeting via Zoom and in person at our new meeting place: the Large Spiritual Commons Room in Northumbria Student Central. We welcome all who seek the meaning of life, and who believe that human spirituality is wider than any one tradition, and deeper than any one set of opinions. With a respect for our Christian origins, we seek to explore all truths from all sources. Our fellowship gives u

s strength and encouragement in daily living. We are now back in our building for services, see below for how to get here. If you are coming to our church building by car, you can park in the big public car park near the church, or, if you have a disabled parking badge, there are spaces in front of the church entrance. If you are struggling to find a parking space, drive to the front of the church (turn right past the University's Wynne Jones Building, follow the road around) and ask inside - any of the church's regular attendees should be able to help you find somewhere to park! If you are travelling by public transport, we are 15 minutes' walk from Central Station, and about 10 minutes' walk from the Haymarket bus and Metro station. If you are cycling, there is space within the building for you to store your bike and get changed.

Our next Sunday gathering will be at 11am on Sunday 30th August, it will be led by Norman Moore on 'Unitarian Faith in Unitarian Hymns'. We're back in the Large Spiritual Commons Room at Northumbria University Student Central for worshipping in person and online. Please use the main entrance if attending in person, as the side door is closed at present. Here's the joining information:
Meeting ID: 899 8132 4654
Direct link - join Zoom meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89981324654
Travel: In addition to roadworks in the city centre, the roundabout beneath the Gateshead Flyover is closed until the end of August and it is effectively impossible to travel to Newcastle from Gateshead over the Tyne Bridge at present - use the Redheugh Bridge or Tyne Tunnel. This is causing some delays in travelling around the area and extra demand for public transport, please bear this in mind!
All are welcome on Sunday morning, join us in the Large Spiritual Commons Room at Northumbria Student Central. Student Central is the large brick building which houses the University's Library, opposite Newcastle Civic Centre. You can park in the car parks nearby (Blue Badge parking is available), bikes can be locked up just outside the building, and it is near the Haymarket Metro station, also the bus stops outside the Civic Centre. Please come to the side door with the banner, and we will have someone there to let you in! Alternatively, if you find yourself at another door, press the intercom button and the library staff will let you in. If you have problems finding us on the day, please call: 07506 255 731. The Nightingale Centre in Great Hucklow used to be a convalescent hospital for returning soldiers, named for Florence Nightingale (her initials appear in stained glass above the front door). It's now a hostel and conference centre, and one of the spiritual homes of UK Unitarianism. We like to take full advantage of the beautiful surroundings to go for an all-ages walk in the afternoon to pick blackberries and watch the gliders taking off!
