DEAR NUFS,
As my final event with the society comes to a close, I cannot put it into words how grateful I am for the time you have given me. It has been a pleasure to help you learn new skills, gain confidence in yourselves, and most importantly see you also enjoy your time at university. I am proud to have been the first president to serve two tenures, every week of them, hoping that you as members were able to benefit from the efforts that I provided.
Over these two years, we established our system of four unique ‘Pathways’, students able to attend weekly classes of their chosen interest in fashion. We were runners-up for Specialty Society Of The Year 2025, and nominated for Society Of The Year 2026. As our Modelling Pathway had portfolio photoshoots across the North East, our Writing Pathway founded ‘The Edit’ NUFS magazine. From the Big NUFS Quiz to hosting our first full-scale winter ball by ourselves, doing the same again the following year, I’m grateful for our wonderful social events. Whether seeing beautifully made Designer Pathway pieces to collaborations with brands such as Superdry, our fashion show’s will certainly be a favoured highlight of mine.
Thank you to both committees that assisted me tremendously throughout this experience, it wouldn’t be possible without you. I wish the very best to the 26/27 committee, hoping they can build on our successes and make many more for themselves.
Whether you’re graduating, or continuing with the society next year, never forget the talents that you’ve discovered, have hope, and remember what both you as individuals and has a group can accomplish.
So long, take care of yourselves and what we have built.
Aaron
