Megans capsule collection explores British heritage and folklore through a contemporary lens, drawing on themes of tradition, storytelling and rural identity.

Using two of the fashion industry's most commonly discarded materials—denim and wool—the collection challenges perceptions of waste while reimagining familiar materials in new and meaningful ways.

Blending references to the past with modern design, the work celebrates the value of overlooked resources and seeks to reconnect British wool with contemporary fashion, transforming a neglected material into something desirable, relevant and current.

In today’s fashion industry, traditional methods of making have often been sacrificed in favour of speed and mass production.

This collection challenges that approach. Using materials already in circulation, it explores alternative fabrication through style, silhouette and textile while addressing the issue of waste within the fashion industry.

Every garment has been created entirely from existing materials including vintage sail cloth, reimagining what we already have rather than producing more.

BA (Hons) Sustainable Fashion – Level 4
Crafting Clothes for Life’s Everyday Adventure

During this industry brief, degree students worked with deadstock and sample garments provided by the FatFace Foundation. Through sustainable design thinking, craft-based techniques, and creative development processes, students explored ways to transform and add value to existing garments through repurposing, craftsmanship, and storytelling.

The final outcomes reflect both environmental responsibility and strong aesthetic consideration.

MENDING MATTERS 🧵

Through Mending Matters, second-year BTEC students celebrated craftsmanship and the art of mending. This ancient yet powerful practice challenges waste and reimagines value. By reinventing unwanted garments and materials, and exploring traditional mending techniques from around the world, students showed how clothing can become more than a material object—carrying stories, heritage, and memory.

THE RED PROJECT

First-year BTEC students explored the powerful symbolism of the colour red as inspiration for this design brief, celebrating the life and work of Valentino Garavani. Influenced by his iconic use of red in fashion, students designed and created unique garments for a collaborative collection of wearable art, celebrating the many meanings and visual impact associated with this striking colour.
