Technology & Design Department Inspires Future Engineers
Fantastic to see our 9X & 10X T&D students taking part in an engaging, hands-on engineering workshop ππ§
Think Design Engineer Foundation, in partnership with Design ID, provided this exciting session as part of our celebrations for International Women in Engineering Day π©βπ¬π β highlighting the vital role engineers play in shaping the future.
During the session, students explored how engineering plays a key role in shaping the world around them, discussing topics such as flood defences π, affordable housing ποΈ, schools and hospitals π«π₯, new roads π£οΈ, footbridges π, and active travel and cycle routes π΄ββοΈ, helping them understand the real impact of engineering in local communities.
Working alongside practising engineers, students gained a real insight into the world of engineering as they:
β
Explored real-world infrastructure projects and how they impact local communities π§
β
Took on a fast-paced, collaborative design challenge to solve a real-life problem π‘
β
Learned about a wide range of engineering careers and pathways π
β
Had the opportunity to ask questions and hear first-hand experiences from industry professionals π¬
This inspiring and interactive experience helped students see the connection between their classroom learning and real-world applications, while developing key skills in teamwork π€, creativity π¨ and problem-solving π§ Many thanks to Mark and Yak from Design ID for delivering the sessions. Mr Boyd.
