It was a pleasure to host a group of trainee teachers from Stranmillis Teaching College at Hazelwood today and share with them the pride we have in our school and pupils.

During the visit they learned about the history of our school, what makes an integrated school unique and the vast array of support provided to our young people at the College to enable to them to succeed, whatever their starting point.

This week, our students in Our Path, Our Journey got creative by making little teabag holders for someone they thought was TEA-riffic! They then delivered their thoughtful gifts to spread a little kindness and brighten someone’s day.

Through this activity, students explored the importance of giving without expecting anything in return, discovering that the true reward comes from making someone else feel special.

A little gift, a lot of kindness, and a reminder that sometimes the simplest gestures can make the biggest difference!

Our Principal, Mrs Jackson, was delighted to attend the NI Chamber’s Future Workforce Summit: Next Generation Workforce, alongside former Hazelwood Principal, Ms Kathleen O’Hare, Chair of the Northern Ireland Skills Council.

The event focused on the opportunities and challenges facing 16–24-year-olds as they prepare to enter the workforce, highlighting the importance of equipping young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to succeed in their future careers. 💙💚

🌍 Celebrating Culture at Hazelwood! 🎶🥁💃

Our lunchtime Cultural Carousel brought our school community together through Indian dancing, African drumming, Irish dancing, traditional music, rock music, language tasters, country mapping, foods from around the world and much more!

A fantastic celebration of the diversity, cultures and traditions that make our school community so special. We’re looking forward to continuing the celebrations throughout Good Relations Week, in association with R-City. 🌎💚

🌍 Good Relations Week 2026: INCLUDE 🌍

Yesterday we kicked off Good Relations Week at Hazelwood with a Cultural Carousel of activities across all three lunches!

Students drummed, danced and played their way around the world, from African drumming and Irish dancing to Bollywood dance, world games, name calligraphy, language tasters and live music. Our canteen served up a world menu too, with dishes from India, China, Italy and Ireland. 🍛🍕🍲

This year’s theme is INCLUDE: Everyone. Everywhere. Every day. As an integrated school, that’s at the heart of who we are. 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who led a station, and to RCity for supporting our world menu.

Inspiring our future healthcare leaders! 🏥✨

Five of our Hazelwood Integrated College students had a brilliant day out attending the prestigious BACCN Nursing Conference!

The girls had a fantastic experience exploring the latest advancements in healthcare and discovering how state-of-the-art technology is shaping the future of critical care. From seeing high-tech equipment in action to learning directly from industry experts, it was an incredibly valuable day that brought the world of modern nursing to life! 🩺💡

A huge thank you to the BACCN team for such an inspiring opportunity! 🙌
