Keeping Your Dog Safe During the Heatwave at FP Animal Therapy…
Hydrotherapy and physiotherapy provide a great way for your dog to continue exercising, maintain muscle strength and mobility, and support their rehabilitation without the risks associated with walking in extreme temperatures. We’ve made a few changes to ensure every hydrotherapy and physiotherapy session is as safe and enjoyable as possible.
Here’s what we’re doing:
Air Conditioning: Our hydrotherapy and physiotherapy rooms are fully air-conditioned, providing a cool and comfortable environment for both you and your dog to enjoy.
Cooler Water Temperatures: We’ve reduced the temperature of the water in both our pool and underwater treadmill to help keep your dog comfortable, while still maintaining the therapeutic temperature range needed for effective treatment.
Extra Monitoring: Our team will be keeping a close eye on every dog throughout their session for any signs that they may be struggling with the heat. Some dogs, such as senior, brachycephalic breeds, and those with heart or respiratory conditions, can find hot weather particularly challenging. If we feel it’s in your dog’s best interests, we may reduce the intensity or duration of their session to ensure they remain safe and comfortable.
Fresh Drinking Water: Fresh, clean water is always available, ensuring your dog can stay well hydrated during their appointment.
Cooling Rinses: Before and after hydrotherapy, we’ll rinse your dog with cool water to help lower their body temperature. We may also leave their coat slightly damper than usual so they stay cooler on the journey home.
