UEA Sport

Sport is an integral part of community life at UEA for students and staff, with a wide-ranging programme of sporting, recreational and health activities.

The University Department of Sport (uea+sport) and the Student Union are pleased to offer an even wider-ranging programme of sporting, recreational and health-promoting activities. Whether these are based at the Sportspark, across campus or in the local community, the aim is to provide a greater choice of activities for the coming year. Here are some of the highlights:

•The Student Union will c

ontinue their support of in excess of 60 sports clubs for those who want competitive sport.

•This year there will be many new opportunities for those to take part in social intra-mural leagues and drop-in sessions. 2014 sees the launch of Sport England's Higher Education ‘Sport Activation Project' (SAP), a brand new sporting initiative to encourage inactive students to become active, regularly.

•To gain access to the excellent facilities at Sportspark all you need to do is activate your campus card at Sportspark reception. For more information about the activities on offer please visit www.uea.ac.uk/ueasport

We were proud to host the BUCS Futsal Finals at the Sportspark ⚽🏆

Congratulations to all teams who competed and delivered an incredible showcase of futsal across the day.

The final results were:
🏅 Women’s National Trophy – Nottingham Women’s 2
🏅 Men’s National Trophy – East London Men’s 1
🏅 Women’s National Championship – Nottingham Women’s 1
🏅 Men’s National Championship – Derby Men’s 1

Mental Health Awareness Week 💙

This week we hosted Yoga by the Lake in support of and it was amazing to see so many new faces getting involved. It was such a lovely way to slow down, connect and take some time for wellbeing.

We also kicked off our very first Coffee Run Club run ☕🏃 The weather was definitely on our side as we took a scenic route around the city, finished off with a post run coffee and saw so many people connecting and forming new friendships along the way which was amazing!

Our next run is TODAY at 2pm and it’s not too late to sign up - tickets are in our bio! If you can’t make this one, check out our Coffee Run Club timetable for future dates. We look forward to seeing you there!

Year 2 Mechanical Engineering student Harry Sewell-Catchpole represented UEA at the BUCS Canoe Sprint 2026 at Whitlingham Adventure, with an outstanding performance. 🚣‍♂️

Harry secured a PB in the Open K1 200m, winning his semi-final before finishing 4th in the final, alongside a podium finish in the Open C1 200m Final 🥉

“Despite my injury, with the amazing support from the physio department, I was still able to compete in a reduced capacity and came away with a podium finish and a long-awaited PB in the K1 200m. This wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support from the scholarship programme.”

This year we have seen record breaking performances, national success, volunteering and outstanding club culture and community. The evening was a celebration of everything that makes sport at UEA so special.

A huge congratulations to Harry on being selected for the GB Wild Water Team 2026 👏

Competing across four days of racing in Grandtully, Scotland, Harry delivered an outstanding performance at senior level securing multiple podium finishes in MC2, including 2nd place across the ECA Cup, ICF Ranking Classic and Sprint events. Strong results in MC1 (5th & 6th) further highlighted his progress across both disciplines.

Despite shoulder pain cutting his weekend short, Harry’s performances across the first three days secured his place on the GB team where he will go on to compete at Senior World Championships, World Cups and the U23 European Championships.

An incredible achievement and a testament to the hard work behind the scenes. We’re excited to see what’s next!
