One of my favourite things about summer in Norwich is going for evening walks around the riverside. These are some snapshots I took while exploring places like Jarrold’s Bridge and the Quayside, and the views were honestly so peaceful and beautiful.

I really love how Norwich has both city vibes and quiet nature spots at the same time, especially during summer evenings when everything feels so calm. Definitely one of my favourite ways to unwind after university work.

Join Gwyneth and Michael to learn some local dialect

Collywobbles: nervousness, shaky and anxious. Often similar to the feeling of butterflies in your stomach
Bob’s your uncle: “And there is it” similar to the French phrase “et voilà!”
Squit: Nonsense, or idle chat or talking rubbish. This is a local dialect word and could be used in the Norfolk phase “A loada ole squit”

These are not common phrases but more for a bit of fun. English in the local area and across the Uk is easy to understand and people are always willing to share meanings of words if needed. It’s great to share unusual words or idioms across cultures because some can sound very silly to those not native to your country and region. Do you have any unusual phrases or words in your culture?
