🎉 Congratulations to this year's Robert Sugden Best Paper Award, Alexandra Ballyk (NYU)! 🎉

All papers presented at the Behavioural Game Theory Workshop by junior researchers (PhD students, post-docs, and faculty who are no more than 7 years from completion of their PhD) are eligible for the first annual Robert Sugden Best Paper Award. This prize is given in honor of UEA’s Robert Sugden, a pioneer in behavioral economics and one of the founding fathers of experimental economics in the UK. It is intended to honor an outstanding example of research in either experimental economics or behavioral theory by a young researcher.

The prize went to Alexandra for her paper "Strategic Communication Under Perceived Misalignment of Interests". In the words of Bob Sugden: "The experiment interface is a perfect illustration of a principle that decision problems should be presented in a way that feels natural to the participants, not in a way that feels natural to theoretical economists."

Live from the Royal Norfolk Show 2026 – Measuring Real Impact

We are delighted to be on the ground today at the Royal Norfolk Show 2026, working in partnership with the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association (RNAA) to capture the social and economic impact of this major regional event.

Across the showground, our fantastic team of student research assistants are actively engaging with visitors and exhibitors - collecting primary survey data in real time. This work is central to understanding how the show contributes to:

Economic impact – local businesses, trade, direct and induced impact

Social impact – community connection and rural engagement

Education – hands-on learning that enriches school curricula and inspires future careers

This is research in action - and our students are playing a central role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based insights that will inform future planning, policy and investment in events such as this. A huge thank you to our students for their professionalism, enthusiasm and dedication throughout the day - we couldn’t do this without you!
