Proud that CYP Nursing School of Health Sciences: University of East Anglia - UEA has again been recognised nationally through Teresa Johnson's very special educational innovation - Escape Room Simulation for the Golden Hour of Paediatric Sepsis. Teresa presented this remarkable approach to CYP nursing education at yesterdays Royal College of Nursing Education Forum Conference held at the University of Exeter and was also struck by how much creative education is evolving out there for nursing education 🙏

Another moment of CYP nursing magic and pride ✨

Well done Teresa 🫡

Our first‑year nursing students were deeply moved by an inspiring and powerful session led by Tristan Cork, who shared Finnbar’s story with honesty, courage, and unwavering dedication to raising awareness around childhood brain tumours.
Hearing Finnbar’s journey brought vital learning to life, reminding us why compassionate, family‑centred care is at the heart of children and young people’s nursing. Tristan’s willingness to share such a personal story made a profound impact on everyone in the room.
We are incredibly grateful for the work of Finnbar’s Force, a Norfolk-based charity supporting families affected by childhood brain tumours and funding vital research.

A huge thank‑you to Tristan for sharing Finnbar’s story with us and helping shape the understanding and empathy of our future nurses.

Paul Morris is the Regional Director for the Royal College of Nursing in the Eastern and East Midlands regions, with a strong commitment to supporting nursing students and early-career nurses. He is a passionate advocate for student voices, fair access to financial and professional support, and creating positive, supported transitions into the nursing workforce.

Paul will be attending the University of East Anglia for a fireside chat with students and staff on Wednesday 14 January, 1.15-2.15pm in Queen's Building 1.03. This inspirational conversation will explore the characteristics that have shaped his career journey, how he has navigated challenges and setbacks, and the key decisions that have influenced his leadership approach. Drawing on his personal philosophy and values, Paul will reflect on lessons learned from failure, decision-making under pressure, and offer practical advice for students and aspiring leaders.

The event is open to all UEA Health Sciences students and staff and will be available to attend in person or via Microsoft Teams.

Compassion, kindness and community spirit being modelled again by our wonderful CYP Nursing students who have taken the time to organise and deliver Christmas Donations to the Norwich Family Hub.

Family hubs offer a vital local service with helpful advice to keep children and young people safe and healthy. This includes families with young people who have special educational needs and / or disabilities, until they are 25-years-old. https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/familyhubs
