Dear Hong Kong Society members,
It is time to re-elect the committee team for next academic year. There are 7 positions available for applications. You can find the details at the bottom of the post. If you are interested in being one of the committee members of Hong Kong Society 2016-2017, we require you to write a manifesto (500 words max.) about yourself at [email protected], which should include:

Description of the positions:
1. PRESIDENT:
• As face of the society
• Requiring time, effort and commitment.
• Overseeing all events
• Communicate and delegate to all committee members.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with other societies
• Creating new links and promoting the society
Traits & Qualities:
• Leadership skills
• Highly organised
• Highly motivated
• Responsibility
• Good communicator

2. VICE PRESIDENT:
• Social representative
• Networking (External and Internal) to attract as many people to go events
• Building a welcoming and friendly atmosphere through social events
• Coordinating internal activities
• Take over the president position during meetings when he/she is absent
• Liaise closely with the President
• Ensure positive relationships with other societies and within the committee
Traits & Qualities:
• Very sociable
• Strong external connections with other universities
• Excellent verbal communication skills

3. SECRETARY:
• Compile minutes and agenda for every meeting
• Update paperwork and emails
• Ensure membership list is up-to-date
• Check grammar for all information before being publicised
• Organise and keep all important documents
• Liaise with President to make sure events run smoothly

• Excellent note-taking and writing skills
• Good English
• High organisational skills
• High punctuality

4. TREASURER:
• Keep updating financial budgets and records with spreadsheets.
• Record the revenues and costs for every event
• Apply for funding from the Union when necessary
• Ensure all activities that require funding are carefully budgeted.
• Ensure all membership fees are received and recorded.

• Very high organisational skills to handle and update accounts

5. SPORTS SECRETARY:
• Organise sport-related events and games in UEA
• Maintain positive relationships with Sport Captains internally and externally

6. MARKETING SECRETARY:
• Market research internally and externally
• Create good customer relationships
• Get sponsorships from different sources

7. PUBLICITY:
• Design posters, creative artwork, promotion designs and update event descriptions
• Ensure our events are well publicised and attendance is high
• Publicise our socials and create a decent atmosphere
• Liaise with secretary to help publicise the society
• Promote events through all media
• Inventive with methods of communication
Traits & Qualities:
• Basic requirement: Photoshop / Illustrator (or other designing software)
• Good I.T. skills
• Creative and imaginative with designs
