One of the many things we do at UEA to support students who would like to continue making music whilst at uni is give out annual awards, worth up to £800!

UEA students across all faculties and courses are welcome to apply. We're looking for those who show exceptional musical ability and a commitment to driving forward the musical culture on campus - whether its through participating in our ensembles, taking a lead in one of the music based societies, or setting up your own initiatives or groups.

If you think this is or could be you, applications for the 2026-27 awards are open until 1 October. If you'd like some inspiration, check out the profiles of some of last year's winners online: https://www.uea.ac.uk/uea-life/campus-life/campus-facilities/music-centre/scholarships-and-awards/2025-26-music-centre-award-holders-and-scholars

Awards are given via a process of application, followed by a short audition and interview; you are not competing against others - everyone will be judged on their own merits.

All current UEA students are welcome to apply, and you can be a musician of any style, tradition or heritage. Find out more: https://www.uea.ac.uk/scholarship/music-centre-award or email [email protected]!

UEA Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Bjorn Bantock Director of Music at UEA, is a large symphony orchestra that performs alongside UEA Choir in two big concerts a year. Our annual auditions are coming up this September and now's your chance to get involved!

We have vacancies in all our sections, but we're particularly keen to hear from any symphonic brass players - especially trumpeters.

Auditions are free and whilst we're looking for roughly Grade 7 standard, you don't need to have passed any exams in order to join. They're short and informal, so why not sign up now for an audition on either 18 or 21 September.

Sign up online: https://www.uea.ac.uk/form/choirs-and-orchestra-audition or email [email protected] for more information about the orchestra, the audition process, or music at UEA.
