Today, we joined colleagues at NUH's Black History Month celebration, hosted by our REACH Staff Network 🙌

We were there to raise awareness of our Improving Black Health Outcomes (IBHO) BioResource study, highlighting why greater representation of Black communities in health research matters 💫

Kebba Konteh also delivered an insightful presentation on research inclusion and the importance of ensuring every community has a voice 🎤🔦

A brilliant opportunity to celebrate culture, share experiences and have meaningful conversations about building a more inclusive future for healthcare ❤️

Pioneering cancer treatment at NUH is giving patients new hope 🔬

Royal Air Force Veteran Tim Swinburn, from Derbyshire, is one of the first patients in the country to receive an innovative treatment called STARGLO for Lymphoma 🙌

His story is shining a spotlight on the incredible advances in cancer care happening right here at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, and the hope they're bringing to patients and their families 💫

Our Mobile Research Unit is at Nottingham Trent University Clifton until Wednesday, speaking with students, staff and the local community about the Improving Black Health Outcomes (IBHO) BioResource 🔬

Black communities have long been underrepresented in health research, and we're working to change that 👏

Over 6,000 people have already volunteered to help shape a future where healthcare better reflects everyone 📝

A pioneering cancer treatment at NUH has saved a Forces veteran’s life

Our research into pioneering new treatment combinations for blood cancer is saving lives - including that of a veteran aircraft engineer with 30 years’ RAF service.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust played a leading role in a clinical trial investigated a new treatment to fight the most aggressive type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Former RAF engineer Tim Swinburn, from Derbyshire, was among the first to benefit. In our video, Tim, a keen motorcyclist, explains the massive difference the research and clinical care he received has made to him.

Could a weight-loss drug help tackle alcohol dependence and obesity at the same time? 🤔

A new £2.7 million UK study is investigating whether semaglutide, also known as Wegovy, could help people living with alcohol dependence, obesity and liver disease🔬

The CURB trial will recruit 268 people across England, Wales and Scotland, with researchers exploring whether the treatment can reduce alcohol use, support weight loss and improve liver health.

Yesterday was a really special day as we came together to celebrate 20 years of the NIHR in the East Midlands 🎉

It was a chance to look back at everything that has been achieved over the past two decades, but just as importantly, to spend time together, share ideas and make new connections 🙌

Days like this are extremely important. They bring people together, keep us joined up and connected, and most importantly help us keep moving research forward for our patients 🔬

There was a real sense throughout the day of how much exciting work is happening across the region, from the research being shared through the poster presentations to the conversations happening between colleagues 📝

Research moves forward when people come together, share what they know and find new ways to work with each other 👏

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day what it was. We’re proud of what has been achieved so far, and excited to see what the next 20 years will bring 🌟

We kicked off the afternoon proceedings here at Trent Vinyard for the event with a stirring performance from the Singing from the Soul choir.

Research colleagues from Nottingham, including from our NIHR BRC and CRF, are gathered together with partners from around the NIHR infrastructure across the East Midlands region including Leicestershire and Lincolnshire to celebrate 20 years of the NIHR at a conference today.

The choir was introduced by Professor Stephen Ryder, Director of our NIHR Clinical Research Facility in Nottingham.

We've been recognising two decades of life-changing health and care research, and to look ahead to the future.
