We invite you to the open lecture by Dr. Bernadette Devilat, Assistant Professor at University of Nottingham, on 'Applicability and scalability of a sustainable re-construction framework for seismic-prone heritage areas of Gujarat, India’ at CEPT University.

The lecture is based on the research project 3D for Heritage India, aiming to build future resilience and local capacity of seismic-prone heritage areas of India by offering a digital platform to enable the design of mitigation and reconstruction plans, damage and technical assessments, enhancing the re-use and repair of housing and virtually preserving its culture embedded as the record of ‘living heritage’.

On the second day of the www.3D4heritageindia.com project activities, we had a workshop at the Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management

Experts there gave talks to the team and participating students from CEPT University delivering the key messages that there are no natural disasters and the importance to build resilience to move from disaster management to disaster risk reduction.

Shubham Daberao also did an amazing session were the students acted the different roles of stakeholders involved in emergency response.

We started the activities of our research project in this third field trip of Phase 3 with an introduction to architectural students at CEPT University in Ahmedabad.

Berni Devilat explained the relevance of heritage intervention in post-earthquake contexts, the research project, what we have been doing thus far for the last three years, and the activities to be done at Bela, our case study.

Then Jigna Desai gave a talk regarding the ethical considerations we have included while working with the local community.

Saatvika Pancholi explained earthquake considerations for non-engineered structures.

Nigar Shaikh explained structural considerations and gave a safety brief to the students.
