The new academic year is starting and it's a great time to get involved in our society!

If you're wondering what our society is about, our General-Secretary Amir Khan spoke to the University of Nottingham's Impact Magazine about the society, our NottsMUN conference and how to get involved.

Impact's News Editor, Lauren McGaun, caught up with the UN Society's Gen Sec, Amir Khan, to find out more about the United Nations Society and their plans to host their annual conference in November in a Covid-secure way.

We are pleased to announce our final committee, an exciting newcomer to the MUN circuit the Critical Situation:
In an innovative new committee format of everything that real life, high stakes negotiation and diplomacy can be, the critical situation committee is a combination of negotiations, press, and crisis. Great for newcomers to special committees, or veterans looking for new twists and challenging mechanics, the critical situation explores the different angles of a fictional hostage situation.

Who are We?

We are effectively a United Nations Youth branch in the university. We are the university's de facto hub for any student looking for an international experience at uni.

Imagine this: you're seated at a table and everyone's talking about everything, from the last Eurovision to the ongoing crisis in Syria, to their own experiences growing up in the world. It's a mix of languages, of nationalities, of courses. Everyone speaks to everyone. And in one night, you make ten new friends.

That's us in a nutshell. If that sounds good to you, you're welcome to join in! We are always trying to diversify our activities. In addition to our weekly MUN sessions and our very own conference, we attend other MUN conferences, but that is only part of what we do. Many joint events with other societies will be held during the year and we are introducing our very own Speakers' Programme with experts on topics as different as Nuclear proliferation and Boko Haram coming to talk to our members.
