Happy Ganesh Chaturthi!

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the arrival of Ganesh and his mother Parvati to earth from mount Kailash. πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦

Lord Ganesha is the God of beginnings, and represents prosperity and wisdom. To celebrate, devotees submerge clay deities of Ganesh underwater also known as Ganesh Visarjan and as the clay dissolves, it is believed to return Ganesh home to mount KailashπŸ”

Hanuman Jayanti is a festival which celebrates the birth of Lord Hanuman. πŸ™πŸ½

Lord Hanuman, the most committed devotee of Lord Ram, is a key figure in the Ramayana epic. He supported Lord Ram along with the big vanarsena (humans in monkey forms) in the long-standing battle against Ravan, the demon king. By undertaking distinct forms on his will, seizing clouds ☁️, and shifting mountains πŸ”, Lord Hanuman helped Lord Ram defeat Ravan.

Hanuman symbolises pure devotion, complete surrender and absence of ego. On this day, Hanuman Chalisas πŸ“– will be recited across the world to remind us of his great qualities. May Hanuman bless you and your families with strength, wisdom and prosperity. πŸ§˜πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

From everyone at NHSF Nottingham Hindu Society, we wish you a very happy Hanuman Jayanti! πŸ’™

Happy Holi!! β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œπŸ’—

Holi, the festival of colours, marks the beginning of spring and the victory of good over evil. The power of devotion as exemplified by Prahlad's faith in God is celebrated as well as the eternal and divine love of Radha and Krishna.

Celebrations include dancing, throwing coloured powder and lighting of bonfires to symbolise the destruction of materialistic desires through discipline.

From everyone at NHSF Nottingham Hindu Society, we wish you a very happy Holi! πŸ’™
