The Bar Society is a student-run group formed to help those aspiring to (or considering) a career at the Bar. We have a full calendar of events taking place throughout the academic year, which the Bar Council of England and Wales has previously referred to as the best they had seen from any university. Our events are designed to help members develop contacts, awareness, and knowledge of the legal

profession. Typical opportunities include:

* Dinners and receptions at the Inns of Court.
* Trips to the UK Supreme Court and the Royal Courts of Justice.
* Talks in Nottingham by leading practitioners.
* Mock Trials and Advocacy Competitions.
* Careers sessions including mini-pupillage application workshops.
* Trips throughout the country to leading barristers' chambers. Ultimately, we aim to ensure that members stand the best possible chance of success in what is an extremely rewarding (but very competitive) profession. President:

We are very excited to welcome you all to our ‘Intro To The Bar’ talk on the 1st of October!

This talk is a great opportunity for you to hear from each of the committee members and get to know each individual member. You will hear more about who we are, what we are interested in, the roles we have and their importance. You will walk away from this event knowing more about us as a society and as individuals.

Additionally, this talk allows you to learn more about the society. We will clearly state our purposes and goals as a society so that you can be confident when joining in how we can help you. You will learn more about the events we hold, workshops we offer and the schemes that will be open to you.

Following this, we also invite everyone to our casual pub social afterwards. This will be an opportunity for you to have open discussions with committee members and to get to know other members in a comfortable setting.
