2. You will then complete a training task.
3. After the training task, you will then get another drive in the simulator followed by a 360-degree hazard awareness test presented in a virtual reality headset.

What do I get out of it?
- Amazon vouchers worth £30.
- A chance to trial new hazard perception tests in virtual reality.
- A chance to practice your driving skills in our simulator.
- Practice your hazard perception skills on our tests.
- The opportunity to take part in exciting research.

Any requirements?

What safety precautions are you taking for COVID-19?
- We have full and strict COVID-19 guidelines in place to ensure that the lab is clean, safe and complies with current scientific advice to prevent the spread of the virus.
- Face coverings must be worn at all times.
- All equipment is cleaned following every participant.

ATTENTION DRIVERS: £30 in AMAZON vouchers and FREE course worth £70!!!!!

What’s it about?

The Department of Psychology is currently looking for volunteers to participate in new and innovative research at NTU. The research is looking at the impact of a driver training course on car drivers’ knowledge and behaviour.

What do I have to do?

As a willing volunteer you will first be asked to complete a small number of questionnaires that will be made available on-line.
Following this you will then be invited into the laboratory at NTU (City Campus) for an hour, where you will take part in a number of fun driving tasks, e.g., a drive on the driving simulator and a number of video-based driving tests.

You will then attend a 4 hour course on the 4th May 2018 (1300 – 1700). The course is designed to help you gain knowledge and give you practical tips for improving your driving safety.
Normally, this sort of course would cost you in the region of £70, but we are paying the course – in fact we will even pay you £30 in vouchers for your time!

Sounds great.. What’s the catch?

The only catch is that you must be free to complete the course on the 4th May 2018 at 1300 – 1700 and we will want you to come back into the laboratory at NTU after you have completed your course for another hour of fun tests.

Any requirements and how do I sign up?

We are looking for experienced drivers who have passed their test at least 3 years ago, and should be regular drivers.
The other requirement is that you need to be available to attend two laboratory sessions and the training course. The lab sessions can be arranged around your availability, but the training courses will run on 4th May 2018 at 1300 – 1700 (location will be Nottingham City Centre).

If you are interested in signing up or would like more information, please reply to this page or email Vikki at

[email protected] quoting “driver safety”.
We have limited spaces so please get in touch soon!
