Natural Sciences at The University of Nottingham This is what we teach our students to become, great scientists.

Throughout history scientists have attempted to make sense of the world around them, identifying problems and providing solutions. Many of the big challenges of the 21st century such as climate change, energy, sustainability, security and health require an interdisciplinary approach to find solutions. Great scientists think beyond the boundaries of a discipline and find solutions to problems using methods across the broader spectrum of science. The Natural Sciences degrees are multidisciplinary programmes on which students study three subjects in the first year and then two science subjects to degree level thereafter, alongside gaining an appreciation for and understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of science. These courses are designed for talented students with an aptitude for science who would like to study a challenging and diverse range of subjects. Successful completion of the degree provides you with the academic knowledge and practical experience for a wide range of careers in science alongside the skills and versatility to pursue whatever career you choose.

It was great to see everyone that came to our EDI event last week! A big thank you to Harry, one of our 3rd year students, for an enlightening presentation about notable scientists in the LGBTQIA+ community.

A big thank you to everyone in Nat-Sci who completed the 'If you could change one thing' survey! Although we didn't quite meet our goal we are grateful to the 47% of students who shared their thoughts about the positive aspects of the course and the attributes which could be developed. There are lots of ways to provide your feedback as this post highlights! This feedback allows the Natural Science team to keep improving the aspects of the course community that everyone loves such as the common room! We always welcome students to share how they feel about their experience studying here in Nottingham at any time with the Course Representatives; allowing us to continually develop the course and support everyone. Thank you for supporting the Nat-Sci community!

Hi everyone! TOMORROW (Wednesday 11th of February) 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm is our LGBTQ+ CommuniTEA in Pope A15!

February is LGBTQ+ History Month, and this year's theme is Science and Innovation 🔬🧪🔭

This will be a space for open conversation around LGBTQ+ history and experiences, with a focus on LGBTQ+ experiences in Science and Innovation.
