SCRUBS Committee Elections 2026/27

Make your mark.

Applications open Monday 19 October at 8am and close Sunday 1 November at 8pm.

Be part of one of the medical school’s largest and most active societies. Help organise major events, including SCRUBS Skills Day and conferences, develop your surgical interests and explore opportunities beyond the curriculum, and help shape the teaching, events and experiences offered to medical students.

Open to SCRUBS members in eligible year groups.

Current final-year students progressing from AP1 to AP2 are not eligible. Some roles require previous SCRUBS committee experience.

Swipe through for our step-by-step guide to joining and making the most of your membership.

Step 1: Buy your membership. For £20, you get complete membership that covers the whole duration of your medicine course. The purchase link is on our Linktree.

What’s included:
- Surgical skills teaching sessions for both basic and advanced skills
- Access to the SCRUBS website, with revision resources for all years
- Anatomy teaching slides mapped to the curriculum
- Networking and mentorship opportunities with surgeons and surgical trainees

Step 2: Sign up to our official website at www.uonscrubs.com. Make sure you use the same email you bought your membership with. This gives you access to all our resources, and it is also where you sign up to skills sessions. For our Skills Session Sign-up Guide, see the pinned post on our Instagram.

We are pleased to announce that our famous Surgical Skills Sessions will be restarting this month, with our first sessions - Hand Ties & Basic Suturing - on Thursday 15th October! 🪡🩺

Booking will open soon via the SCRUBS website - so if you are not a member yet but want to attend then buy your membership and sign up to the website ASAP (as it may take a couple of days to approve your request)! 🧑‍💻👀

SCRUBS is proud to welcome Dr Christos Christou, TIME100-recognised humanitarian leader and former International President of Médecins Sans Frontières, for an evening exploring humanitarian advocacy, global health leadership, and trauma surgery in crisis zones.

Thursday 12th November, 6–8:30pm.
Keighton Auditorium, University of Nottingham, University Park Campus, NG7 2QX.

Tickets will be released in phases:

21st September - University of Nottingham medical students

28th September - All UoN students and staff

5th October - General public, open to all

Hear about Dr Christou’s experiences leading MSF through global crises, his advocacy for escalating humanitarian need, and how you can get involved with MSF yourself.

Tickets: £3 for UoN students and staff, £5 for general public. All proceeds will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières.

SCRUBS is proud to be partnering with Médecins Sans Frontières for an evening “In Conversation with Dr Christos Christou, International President of MSF from 2019 to 2025.”

Recognised on the TIME100 list for his humanitarian leadership, Dr Christou led one of the world’s largest medical organisations through major global crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and significant displacement emergencies.

This conversation goes beyond medicine and surgery, touching on human rights, humanitarian ethics, and what global health leadership looks like in an increasingly fractured world. Wherever your interests lie, in medicine, politics, law, human rights, or global affairs, this is a conversation with something to offer everyone. The fireside chat will be followed by a talk on how you can get involved with MSF.

This event is open to the entire University of Nottingham community and to interested members of the public.
