Hope everyone’s ready for our miles challenge!! If you haven't got the link to the excel spreadsheet or are having trouble opening it, don’t be afraid to get in contact with us. There's still time to sign up if you haven't yet, just comment on this post or send us a message.

As a reminder, activities are weighted:
-1 mile cycling = 1 challenge mile
-1 mile running = 2 challenge miles
-1 mile walking = 4 challenge miles

Over the next two weeks teams will compete to see who can collectively cover the greatest mileage. Teams are of six, you can choose your team or you can be allocated a team.

To sign up or get more info, comment on this post or drop us a message. Best of luck for everyone taking part!

***Sunday 25th***

Due to the short notice of the change in how we must operate this Sunday 18th is not practical as we also have a number of committee members currently isolating and we don't want to be unsafe at any point in the current situation with the virus or at the sailing club.

Plan is to run some informal racing for those that are interested but all are welcome to come down to just have a sail also. This would be an opportunity for those wishing to trial for team to show us what you can do. As you can understand teams cannot be set in the current situation, however with no events running there is no need to rush selection.

For those that have not had a free taster or trial yet then you will not need to purchase membership to attend your first session. As regards to swim tests this is still not certain therefore as long as you have filled out the waiver then you will be able to sail until more swim tests can be arranged.

ALL those that wish to come on Sunday 25th please let us know ASAP so that we can prepare for tasters and allocate who gets to sail with who and understand the quantity of interest (we will hopefully not need to cap the numbers)

Hope everyone is still coping and we hope to see you soon

Boaty Love

Taster - Sunday 11th

Apologies for the delayed communication, it was not clear until recently whether our activity could continue in the current situation of the rising covid cases in Nottingham. For now it looks like this Sunday will be possible to run tasters so lets make the most of it; given we may not be able to sail after Monday.

The pick up times are below, the campus pick up location is specified in a picture, Lenton pick up still from Sainsburys carpark on Derby road. Don't forget to:

Arrive changed in something you don't mind getting wet or be prepared to get changed outside, bring a change of clothes just in case, bring some food if you need it (estimated 3 hours pick up to drop off) and don't forget a mask.

You will also need to fill out the sailing waiver - https://form.jotform.com/202695342458057

Please be aware of the potential need to cancel at short notice due to the changing situation however it looks like we will be clear until Monday.

Any questions please ask, otherwise we look forward to hopefully seeing you on Sunday!

P.S. Quiz night! Tonight (Friday 9th at 8pm), everyone welcome to get involved!

***Trials***

Hope everyone is excited to trial for our BUCS teams. Here is the timetable for pick ups from the carpark at the bottom of the road from the Portland Building - image attached. I apologise if your name is on the list and you have told us you can't make it or if you think you are missing from the list, either way please contact us to sort this out. For those that are currently isolating then we hope to see you all on Sunday 18th, details to follow. Due to those who are isolating, the 2pm pick up is for those wanting a taster who could not make the first one, you have been emailed. Unfortunately I can only apologise for those having to make the trip from Lenton to Campus, in order to have the most productive time on the water this is the best way to achieve it. You will not have to make this trip in future.

I reiterate some information from the tasters and trials post below:

Please arrive at least 5 mins early for your pick up time, the 5 of you will be a social bubble and therefore should not interact with others, apart from when on the water when wearing a mask
What you need to bring:
Arrive changed in something you don't mind getting wet or be prepared to change outside, bring a change of clothes just in case and don't forget a mask! And a spare mask in case that gets wet too. Bring a packed lunch if you wish (eta back to campus 3.5 hours from pick up)
You will be required to use hand sanitiser before and after getting in and out of the minibus and the boat and to wear a mask during these times too. As you might expect we are also required to take your track and trace information too. Please bare with us as you can expect this is a difficult time for us all to manage the current regulations.

Finally, for those that have not already please fill out the waiver below.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, see you on Sunday!

***Taster & Trials***

What you need to know:
You will be picked up from the Portland building lakeside steps in the minibus, a committee member will be there so you know you're in the right place. You will be allocated a time slot - look out for the next post for this - please arrive at least 5 mins early so that the minibus schedule is delayed as little as possible. Each time slot will be a batch of 5 people of which you will stay in your 5 apart from when on the water where you will be taken out by an experienced sailor in one of our fireflies.

What you need to bring:
Arrive changed in something you don't mind getting wet, bring a change of clothes just in case and don't forget a mask! And a spare mask in case that gets wet too. Bring a packed lunch if you wish (eta back to campus/Lenton 3 hours from pick up)

You will be required to use hand sanitiser before and after getting in and out of the minibus and the boat and to wear a mask during these times too. As you might expect we are also required to take your track and trace information too. Please bare with us as you can expect this is a difficult time for us all to manage the current regulations.

Thank you to all those who have signed up so far! We are now full for our first taster and trials sessions so please don't be disheartened if you don't see your name on the pick up timetable, we endeavour to provide a free taster or trial to all so do sign up if you haven't done so already. Information for further dates will be emailed to those who we don't have space for this time round. It will be a first come first served selection.

Hope everyone is as excited as we are to meet you and get back out on the water! Any further questions please don't hesitate to ask us!
