Mums & mums to be: research on smoking & quitting during & after pregnancy This is a forum for women to discuss their experiences of smoking in pregnancy, and to share views and attitudes on this subject and the support available

The Smoking in Pregnancy research team, based within the School of Medicine at Nottingham University, are interested in hearing from and engaging with women who have experience of smoking during and after pregnancy, and who are willing to share their experiences, views and attitudes on this subject and also the treatments and support available to help pregnant women quit. The overall aim for our r

esearch is to reduce smoking rates in pregnancy, and we are particularly interested in finding out the most effective ways to help women to quit, developing new methods for quitting and learning how to make these available. Your input will be extremely valuable in helping us to determine which aspects of smoking and quitting are most important to you, and therefore help us to design research studies that will be more relevant to women who have experience of smoking during pregnancy.

Using Ni****ne Replacement Therapy (NRT) during pregnancy.

Can you help shape our future research?
Are you currently pregnant?
Do you smoke or have you stopped very recently?
Would you be interested in talking over the telephone to a researcher?

We want to hear your views and opinions on using Ni****ne Replacement Therapy (ni****ne patches, gum, inhalers) during pregnancy. Your views, opinions and ideas will help shape a new research project aiming to help women quit smoking during pregnancy.

New data released by NHS Digital today shows that adult smoking rates in England have declined to a new low of 14.9% in 2017.

Whilst this is an encouraging trend, unfortunately there has been no substantial decline in the number of pregnant women smoking at time of delivery for three years, with the rate of pregnant smokers remaining at 10.8%. This highlights the need for much more to be done to support pregnant women to quit smoking.
