NEW: We are honoured to be ranked number one in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the tenth consecutive year. 👏

Oxford has been world number one since 2017 – the longest time any university has held the position in the 21 annual editions of the rankings. Harvard University and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) are the only other universities to have topped the rankings.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Irene Tracey said: 'Sustaining a dynamic and globally competitive sector requires renewed investment and support, so that universities can continue to drive discovery, opportunity and economic growth for future generations.'

The process for the THE World Rankings is a rigorous piece of research built on an analysis of almost 19 million research papers, 1.5 million votes in an Academic Reputation Survey and detailed institutional data on over 3,000 universities worldwide.

As part of our newest alumni reflections, we asked Rhys Holloway (Wycliffe Hall, 2022) what graduating from Oxford means to him.

‘Graduating from Oxford for me is more than just an academic achievement but the culmination of a life changing opportunity. As someone who grew up in a council estate in Oxford, I would walk past the great buildings in the city centre with both a sense of awe and also profound distance.’

We also asked Rhys what advice he would give to someone thinking about applying.

‘My advice for anyone applying would be two things: do not be afraid to try, despite how impossible it may seem. Likewise, pursue something which you love. Studying something you are passionate about will undoubtedly keep you motivated when things get tough.’

The 2026 memorial lecture in honour of the late Revd Canon Dr Michael Green will be held THIS WEDNESDAY 13 May at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, at 5:30pm.

🟩 Michael Green was an eminent evangelist, theologian and author who held posts as Rector of , as Professor of Evangelism at , and as lecturer for 25 years here at Wycliffe Hall.
