Global Directions

Global Directions Global Directions (GD) is a research group based at Merton College, University of Oxford.

Permanently closed.

GD was founded in 2005 to serve as a cross-disciplinary forum for exploring pressing global issues and to foster a robust policy-relevant dialogue within the University and in conjunction with visiting experts and practitioners. We represent a network of fellows and students based at Oxford engaged in the study of the challenges — and opportunities — of the 21st century, such as climate change, hu

manitarian crisis response, economic development, nuclear proliferation, the regulation of armed conflict, and the effects of ICT and internet adoption on societies around the world. During the academic year, GD regularly hosts colloquia, conferences, and lectures, free and open to the public.
