Statement from Venkat:
"Hey, VK here looking to run for President. As the lifeblood of college, the JCR needs a strong leader. I've got involved in a variety of stuff in Ox, from the Union, to rowing, to running freshers' week - all of which I hope has given me the experience to lead the JCR over the next year. Perhaps the most important skill I've picked up is the ability to thoroughly represent your views on both a college (having to liaise with college on every aspect of freshers' week) and uni-wide level (for example at OUSU council)."

Statement from Alexander:
"We belong to a fundamentally prestigious, beautiful college. As President, I want to maximise the opportunities available to the JCR. I want to boost our reputation, bolstering ties with our sister college Clare (Cambridge), initiating intercollegiate bops more generally, and starting a discussion on OUSU's relevance. I want to make small, noticeable improvements to everyday JCR life too: upping the versatility of the JCR noticeboard, acquiring (pretty) furniture for the lawns, and starting a tradition of summer lawns parties. Keeping rent down, maintaining good relations with college, acting upon the JCR's wishes etc. goes without saying.

So the nominations are in; on the slim chance you don't read Gemma's emails (why wouldn't you though, they are brilliant), the two who are vying it out for Prez are Alexander Kirri and Venkat Kondragunta. Manifestos will be up in the entrance hall and also emailed round, statements to follow soon.
