We have an exciting vacancy for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who would like to join a small friendly team of tutors at Oxford Media & Business School.

You must have a passion for Microsoft Office and want to inspire young people aged 18 and over. The role is a fulltime within term time hours starting in September, and office based in central Oxford.

We teach our students more than just business skills...

Jo Donelan, our PDP & Careers Tutor, is a Master Practitioner in Intuitive Psychology, and passionate about making sure our students learn techniques on how to self-care.

Last week saw her leading a series of mindfulness workshops with all our student groups, teaching them the following practical tools for everyday student life -

- Grounding exercises
- Bodyscanning
- Journaling
- Mindful listening exercises
- Practising gratitude

As our students head into the busiest part of the final term with mock interviews, assignments, and presentation week fast approaching, we hope they will find these tools useful!

Mock interviews have taken place!

All our students have been interviewed and had their CV’s critique’d by our HR Consultant, David Hooper.

He tells us that young people frequently make the same CV mistakes -

❌ Personal statements that are too long
❌ Wordy skill summaries
❌ Use of the wrong font
❌ Using paragraph descriptions rather than scannable bullet points

David helps them rectify all of these things 🙌

Sporting success for one of our current students!

Atlas recently participated in the BUIHA tier 2 national championships for ice hockey for the Of East Anglia, having completed a Film & TV Studies degree there before coming to OMBS.

We’re thrilled to say they brought home gold with their team with no less than a seven-game winning streak. As a part of the captaincy squad, Atlas concludes their final year as an alumnus with the UEA Avalanche as a national champion!

Atlas will now continue to train with the Oxford Midnight Stars, a women’s ice hockey club based just a stone’s throw from the business school. We wish them every continued success with the new team!

Godolphin School in the sunshine!

Our Principal, Andrea, recently met Cecily, one of our current students, at Godolpin to deliver a talk to the Lower Sixth about the Professional Business Diploma.

Cecily enjoyed seeing familiar faces, as she worked there as a Residential Assistant for nearly two years before coming to study with us!

A huge congratulations to current student Jonny for landing a job before he has even graduated!

In late July he will start as a Trainee Lettings Negotiator for a property business in West London.

Our Careers Advisor, Jo, spotted the job opportunity and suggested he apply, knowing it might be suitable for his personality. He went through two selection phases, including travelling down to London for a face to face interview, and landed the job!

Jonny credits his success at interview to a number of reasons -
- The support from Jo in his Personal Development Planning sessions
- The business communication skills he has gained from the Business module
- The support from our recruitment partner Pip from Guiness Recruitment
