Founded in 1555 by Sir Thomas White, a London cloth merchant, St John's is a constituent college of Oxford University and occupies extensive grounds in the heart of Oxford, with award-winning architecture and some of the most beautiful gardens in the city. The unique and special community of St John's extends well beyond St Giles with over 7500 alumni. Everyone who studies here is a member of College for life and we hope you will continue to be involved with St John's and other St John's alumni long after you leave.

The Call and the Answer: Travel and Literature in the Work of Addie B. Hunton and Kathryn M. Johnson

Professor Mia Bay (University of Cambridge) will give this year's Black History Month Lecture. Mia Bay is Paul Mellon Professor of American History and Fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge. Her research focuses on the history of ideas about race, the intellectual work of black women, the study of African American approaches to citizenship, and the history of race and transportation.
