Who tweeted that?!

From Shakespeare to Sophocles, the adage of ‘don’t shoot the messenger’ sustains. But, does a message depend on its messenger?

This week Emma shares her design seeking to disentangle the role of the messenger in how a message is received in the context of sentiment towards refugees in Turkey.

Join us in-person or online on Wednesday, 1st of May, from 14:00-15:00 when Emma will present her experimental design.

In the immortal words of Lesley Gore: “It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to.”

Although we think Lesley may have had a different meaning in mind, this week Joshua Berry will share his experimental design that tests how elite in-group partisan cues impact cries for content moderation.

Join us on Wed from 14:00-15:00 for the final colloquia this term. You won’t want to miss this timely design!

As part of CESS’s continued commitment to the training and mentorship of junior experimentalists, we are excited to announce our next introductory course on oTree (course webpage: https://cess-nuffield.nuff.ox.ac.uk/online-otree-course-for-beginners-spring-2024). This course aims to introduce students and researchers in the social sciences to oTree, a leading framework based on Python to develop and administer experiments in the social sciences. The course is best suited for absolute or semi-beginners, as it does not assume any prior knowledge of programming either in Python or in any front-end language such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS. The course does assume a basic understanding of experimental methodology in the social sciences.
