University College Music Society Founded in 1930, UCMS is dedicated to promoting a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere of music making at Univ.

Founded in 1930, the University College Music Society, or UCMS, exists to promote music within University College, Oxford. While it is run by a friendly and enthusiastic committee of Univites, members of other colleges are welcome to get involved! With events ranging from Master's Lodgings Concerts to Open Mic nights, and ensembles including Fidelio Orchestra and Kodaly Choir (run jointly with Mer

The Fidelio Orchestra is looking for new conductors!

After our very successful concert in 4th week, the Univ, Magdalen and Merton Music Society's orchestra is looking for new pieces, and new people to conduct them.

We are a friendly, accessible college orchestra, and we meet every Monday in the 10 Merton Street lecture theatre for a two hour rehearsal (snacks are provided)

If you are interested in conducting please contact Stuart MacGregor with your name and the piece you would like to conduct by midnight on Friday.

UCMS Orchestra will have our first rehearsal on Monday of first week (October 11th) at 7:30pm to 9:30pm, in the 10 Merton Street Lecture Theatre. We will be meeting on Logic Lane at 7:25 for anyone that needs help finding it!

We’ll be playing Beethoven’s 1st Symphony as well as Khachaturian’s Adagio from Spartacus, for a concert in 8th week.

After a long hiatus, Univ orchestra will resume on Monday of 1st week (11th October) so don’t forget to bring your instruments!

The second Univ Orchestra Rehearsal is on Monday night.
Goodhart Seminar Room
6:15-8:15pm

We will rehearse the Beethoven first, followed by the Dvorak with the Danzon last. If you’re not in the Beethoven please turn up for 6:45 (unless you want to sit through the Beethoven which you’re more than welcome to)
