Lunchtime seems a very apt time to share some of the delicious-sounding menus put together by our Pre-A-Level students this term. Under the theme of 'Food', each chose their native country's cuisine, and were tasked with writing and presenting in English a full menu from a fictional restaurant.
Whilst studying this topic, the class also discussed the cultural significance of different cuisines, inclusive dining experiences, food poverty and access to nutrition, and the social aspects of dining and food sharing.

What better way to learn about the wonders of Physics than to go and see it in action?

We took our A-Level and Pre-A-Level Physics students on a study trip to the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory at , where they were shown the cutting-edge research that takes place on this fascinating science and innovation campus, including energy, space, health and quantum computing.

They learned all about solar power and other technologies and were even challenged to create their own solar-powered car!

Thanks to everyone at RAL for a captivating tour and workshop itinerary, our students had a great time!

At Oxford Sixth Form College, we .

As part of , students at Oxford Sixth Form College took part in a whole-college activity, tasked with producing a poem or piece of writing in just 45 minutes, under the theme, "I choose respect".

And they certainly delivered!

We were blown away by not only the quality of the work they produced in such a short time, but also the depth and passion in their writing and the maturity with which they approached the task.

With the privilege of being able to step outside of our front door onto the stunning streets of central Oxford comes new and exciting ways for our students to learn.

Earlier this term, Year 12 photography students went on their first “photo walk” around Oxford. Their challenge for the week was to capture “Lines, Shapes and Patterns”. With guidance from their teacher, the students explored how to use the Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO settings on their cameras to achieve different photographic effects.

As part of our Black History Month celebrations, we were delighted to be visited today by Beverley Harry, Manager for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at GLAM (Gardens, Libraries and Museums) at the University of Oxford. Beverley gave a fascinating talk to our History Students across all programmes about Black History and reclaiming the narrative.

Students learned about Black History from the UK perspective and the wider implications of Black History and World History. Students asked thought-provoking questions, and this raised interesting and in-depth discussions among the group.

Meet our new student council!

Chosen by their peers, they'll play an active and important role within the College community, including organising social events and fundraisers, promoting important issues and meeting regularly with the College leadership to voice student opinion and enact change.

We look forward to hearing their ideas and seeing their impact in College this academic year!

Our Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support took place yesterday - our first fundraiser for this academic year!

Staff and students took part in the world's biggest coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillian Cancer Support. The coffee morning was a huge success with many delicious treats enjoyed by all (some made by our wonderful staff) and a great amount of money was raised for a very worthwhile cause.

Well done to everyone involved on a great fundraising initiative!

And just like that, a new academic year has started at – a warm welcome to all our new and returning students!

We have enjoyed welcoming our new students to our diverse community and watching new friendships form already. Our boarders arrived over the weekend, inductions for new students began yesterday and returning students came back today to re-register. New students have spent time getting to know each other and meeting some of our staff who will be supporting them throughout their time with us. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch before an afternoon of induction meetings and presentations.

We're really looking forward to this academic year and are excited to see what it brings. As lessons start tomorrow, we wish everyone the best of luck for the academic year ahead!

For anyone who is still considering their options, we are still accepting applications for this September, so there is still time to get your application in – please contact us via our enquiry form on our website: https://www.oxfordsixthformcollege.com

Great to see a couple of our Global Recruitment team showing their support at Jamal’s solo art exhibition 🖌🎨 ('Optical Materialism - The Art of Controlling Light') at the National Academy of Art and Culture (ASWARA) in Kuala Lumpur.

Jamal, Oxford Sixth Form College’s very own Chemistry teacher, treated them to a guided tour to see his amazing artwork where he explained the inspiration and processes behind the 40 plus pieces that he had on display there. 🎨🖌
